News that the Cypriot President’s family moved 21 million euros to London days before the bank accounts of his people were looted as part of the bailout deal serves as another reminder that while the media portrays the victims of the Cyprus “haircut” as the mega rich and wealthy Russian oligarchs, the real victims are middle class families and small business owners.

“A company owned by in-laws of Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades withdrew dozens of millions from Laiki Bank on March 12 and 13, according to an article published in Cypriot newspaper Haravgi,”...

In addition, as Reuters reports, “While ordinary Cypriots queued at ATM machines to withdraw a few hundred euros as credit card transactions stopped, other depositors used an array of techniques to access their money.”

Branches and subsidiaries of Cypriot banks in London and Russia remained open while banks in Cyprus were closed, allowing Russian oligarchs and other wealthy depositors to move their money.

When asked about the amount of money that had exited Cyprus before the bailout deal, German Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble refused to provide figures.

“Perhaps because if he did, it would become clear that the only entities truly punished by this weekend’s actions are not evil Russian billionaires, but small and medium domestic companies, and other moderately wealthy individuals, hardly any of them from the former “Evil Empire,” remarks Zero Hedge.

As Business Insider reports, the fact that the mega-rich – the supposed targets of Cyprus “haircut” – have already removed most of their money from the system means that, “upper middle class/entrepreneur types will feel most of the pain if the Cyprus tax is enacted.”

In other words, the very engine of the Cypriot economy, the businesses and the employers, will be the victims of the EU/IMF plundering. Middle class families are also amongst the worst affected. The Telegraph recently reported on a family who sold their villa in Cyprus for 200,000 euros right before the “haircut” was announced only to see the desperately needed cash disappear.

The British solution is better. Steal from the poor while giving the rich mega tax breaks. The ironically named Works and Pensions secretary, Iain Duncan Smith said he could live on US$80.70 per week, the amount a working man told him on TV, that he had to live on. (Dumcan Shit lives rent free in a house provided by his father in law worth over $3million). In the last 24 hours 115,000 people have challenged him to do it.
Now before Tom comes on and queries my figures let me say the value of the house is from my failing memmory. The rest is well documented.
The bitch Thatcher introduced the UK to the unacceptable face of capitalism and this gruesome twosome, the boy Dave and his bean counter buddy George, are determined to show the world that UK toryism is the answer to the world's problems. So far they have failed miserably.
And the people of the UK, and France and Cyprus and greece and Italy and spain and portugal are too bloody lazy to fight these bastards and demand a return of all the fiddled millions, the avoided and evaded taxes, the insider trading profits that are being hidden away in tax havens and other ways of hiding enormous riches.

Like many places. Hong Kong fat cats use BVI and Bermuda.
The money I have in hk was earned by the sweat of my brow in hk except for profit on investments which are not taxed. The money I have in the UK has already paid its full amount of tax.
 
He just extorted more money from the working classes by ending the payroll tax holiday so that we can pay for retirees.
 
That's only a small part of the problem though. He's increased spending a trillion per year and fighting like hell to expand it even more.

WOW I really struck a nerve. I have learned through life not to listen to what people say but watch what they do.

You yammer for higher taxes yet voluntarily choose to live in a low tax haven. I am not condemning your choice. I am just calling out your hypocrisy calling for higher taxes that will never impact you. You have zero credibility on this issue unless you are willing to expose yourself to the policies you champion. But like all loony left wing hypocrites, you do not. You have been exposed

You must have been as happy as a pig in shit in the '70s when Dennis Healey had to go cap in hand to the IMF and the top rate of tax was 83% on income. As for now, what about those swingeing welfare cuts? How much do you think so far? -10% maybe -15 or -20%, no the true figure is +1.5%, what heartless bastards they are.
