This after Trump said how much he respected the building and its history.

"The White House is demolishing the entirety of the East Wing to make way for President Trump’s $200 million ballroom, a construction project that is far more extensive than he initially let on, a senior administration official said on Wednesday.

The tear-down should be finished by this weekend, according to the official, who was not authorized to speak publicly about the plans."

Do you know how many presidents have renovated the White House, Marty?

Here’s the answer:

Many presidents have renovated the White House, with four major renovations occurring under Theodore Roosevelt (1902), Calvin Coolidge (1927), Harry S. Truman (1948-1952), and more recently under Donald Trump. In addition, numerous other presidents have made significant changes, such as John F. Kennedy creating the Rose Garden, Richard Nixon converting an indoor pool into the press briefing room, and Barack Obama redesigning the tennis court for basketball and adding a kitchen garden.

  • Theodore Roosevelt: Modernized the White House and created the West Wing as the new executive office space.

  • Calvin Coolidge: Oversaw a major renovation in 1927.

  • Franklin D. Roosevelt: Built an indoor swimming pool for his physical therapy, which was later converted into a press room.

  • Harry S. Truman: A complete gutting and reconstruction of the interior from 1948 to 1952, as the original structure was deemed unsafe. He also added a balcony to the South Portico.

  • John F. Kennedy: Created the modern Rose Garden.

  • Richard Nixon: Converted the swimming pool into the press briefing room and added a bowling alley.

  • Gerald Ford: Had an outdoor swimming pool built.

  • George H.W. Bush: Expanded the tennis court in 1989.

  • Bill Clinton: Undertook a restoration and refurbishment of the building.

  • Barack Obama: Redesigned a tennis court into a basketball court and created the White House Kitchen Garden.

  • Donald Trump: Completed a new tennis pavilion, refurbished the existing tennis court, and added a new building for the press corps.

Poor Marty.

At last we'll have a space where people don't have to stand in the wet grass/mud under a tent....thank God.

And, unlike other renovations, the POTUS and other private citizens are footing the bill.

WTF are you trying to bitch about?

Much of the East Wing has now been torn down. While many Trump defenders wagered early this week photos made the demolition look more extensive than it actually was, the Washington Post reported late Tuesday that “it appeared that what remained was also headed for demolition, with no evidence that the structure was being protected and only jagged damage visible in the exposed building.”

Partially funded by Trump’s YouTube settlement. lol

Wrong, as usual. Just the outer wall facade is being removed to add on the ballroom/event space.

Why are you bitching about a badly-needed IN DOOR event space being gifted to the American people?

Maybe you lefties asshats that suddenly are so interested in preserving history should have been screeching when statues of our forefathers and founders were being ripped down and pushed over by angry mobs of outraged moonbats.
GFY.

It’s not so much what’s coming down as the monstrosity that will be going up.
WTF are you blubbering about? It will be beautiful, unlike the Obama library, speaking of "monstrosities".

The projected appearance of the new White House ballroom is a lavish, neoclassical design with chandeliers and ornate columns, featuring bulletproof glass walls. It will be a 90,000-square-foot addition with a capacity to seat up to 999 people, and its design is expected to closely resemble the gilded ballroom at Mar-a-Lago.

Key features of the projected design:
  • Architectural style: A neoclassical design created by McCrery Architects.

  • Interior details: Expected to be lavish, with ornate columns and chandeliers.

  • Exterior: The sides of the ballroom will be made of bulletproof glass.

  • Size: The new structure is planned to be approximately 90,000 square feet, with a seated capacity that can hold up to 999 people, reports this YouTube video and Wikipedia. This is significantly larger than the current East Room, which seats about 200.
