End the embargo/restrictions on cuba

My understanding is that, for now, he is lifting the retrictions on Cuban-Americans visitation and the money the can send. As far as I'm concerned, they should lift all restrictions.

good for obama...was just having a discussion with my wife about my time in law school and how there was this one partner at the firm i clerked at who smoked cigars. i had never smoked them, but i wanted to be cool like this guy. so i had one, freakin A, it was good. so he bought be a box ($50) of cigars (i looked it up :)) and been hooked since, though i rarely smoke them, i enjoy them.

he was a firm believer in cuban cigars and was quite proud of smuggling some boxes into the states. that is what started this thread...

politically, the restrictions are pointless and do more harm than good.

If things don't work here, there may be a few of us swimming to Cuba!

What we're going to get from Obama is the same half-measured approach that he's taken on everything .. except Wall Street, the only issue he has the courage to be bold on.

We'll get half-measures on Cuba, healthcare, the stimulus, assisting US automakers, foreign policy, reforms to the senseless war on drugs, and everything else he touches .. except Wall Street.

He needs some balls, BAC you are right he's like a bull in a China room. He fucking won and he should do what he wants and what he was elected to do.

President Barack Obama is planning to ease economic and travel restrictions on Cuba.

I agree, but these are balls he doesn't have .. except for Wall Street.

He's a centrist and centrist are never bold .. except for Wall Street.

It's why I've often called him Obambi.

President Barack Obama is planning to ease economic and travel restrictions on Cuba.

Exactly the half-measures I'm talking about .. IF that even happens.

Obama has often said it was time "to end the embargo with Cuba" because it had "utterly failed in the effort to overthrow Castro." Speaking to a Cuban American audience in Miami in August 2007, he said he would not "take off the embargo" as president because it is "an important inducement for change" .. AND, he told them that politicians who promise ending the embargo are pandering.

Then, people like you my brother either don't pay attention or don't hold your own candidate's feet to the fire as you hold the feet of the opposition.

The intelligence is in what he originally said .. It's time to end the Cuban Embargo .. not just lessen some restrictions.

Wouldn't half measures be better than no measures?

Wouldn't half measures be better than no measures?

That depends on the issue.

Is the Obama better than Bush?

Absolutely.

Will the half-measures of the Obama Administration do what is necessary to bring this country back?

Remains to be seen.

His half-measures of healthcare tweaking could actually be disastrous to the movement to REFORM healthcare, not tweak it.

His half-measures on war still leads to war and dead people.

His half-measures on the US auto industry could bring back a republican Congress.

What America needs is bold leadership, not half-measures.

i like the freudian nature of this post.......

isn't obama easing economic and travel restrictions on americans ...... he isn't the president of cuba yet....

It's not a question of "bringing the country back". America will never again be the arrogant cocksure bully it was under Bushler. We must share power and act multilaterally in the family of nations. Nationalism and 'patroitism" are so last century!

explain exatly how obama was not exactly this when he sent 15,000 troops to afganistan.....fired the ceo of gm, forced tarp money on banks and refused repayment of tarp money by banks.....

new boss same as the olde boss.......

Even England has abandoned the lost war in Iraq, and President Obama will redeploy as he sees fit.

england still has troops in the middle east......so obama will unilatterly redeploy troops to wage an illegal war without un world or congressional approval...how very unarrogant uncocksure an excellent example of sharing power and acting multilaterally in the family of nations.........ah the change.....i feel so unified....

President Obama knows what he is doing and is way more popular than Bush was.

Because he is so popular it shows that most people trust him.

and that trust is declining not increasing.....when do you think some of the 3 trillion dollars he has spent will make it to you so you can get your fair share.....
