End All Offshore Oil Production/Drilling

Yurt your obviously way smarter then them on this. When gas hits 5 gallon they will beg us to drill offshore.

exactly...just like they did last time and many have now halted any future production/drilling as a knee-jerk emotional reaction to the leak in the gulf

Yeah, but you changed the premise of your original question. You originally asked if we should halt all future and current production.

I can only go by what you wrote. I can't mind read and tell if you meant something different than what you wrote.

There is currently like over a thousand offshore production platforms and tens of thousands of currently producing offshore wells. Mostly in shallow water or on the inner shelf.

I've never, not one single time, heard anyone who has even a rudimentary knowlege of energy issues, suggest we immediately begin to mothball and stop production at hundreds of offshore platforms and tens of thousands of currently producing offshore wells. Have you?

Now, if your question has evolved to whether future deepwater drilling should be banned, I believe there have been some people who advocate that. I ain't one of them.


As topspin says, us spotted owl lovers need some fuel to head up to Big Sur to hug some redwood trees

Uhm, I think when he said "I agree..." That is typically recognized as someone agreeing with you. I have to say, after reading this response, I now see where you were asking questions and not stating an opinion, but on my initial read, it did seem as if you were trying to make a point with the questions, and the questions seemed to be leading to a point.
