There are a lot of people willing to work for free to get the experience necessary to get hired. Too many employers these days require you to have "at least five years of experience" or so to even consider you. And how the hell are you supposed to get five years of experience to get hired when you need to get hired to do so? By working as a slave.
 
We pay our interns about $20 hr and rent them apt. Granted most of them are in engineering and geology.
Why is free internship bad if students are willing?
 
Kind of like when I tried to borrow the money to buy a house when I was 22. I had a car payment but that was all the credit that I had. Couldn't get a loan from any bank because I didn't have any credit built up. Had to borrow the money from an individual. I always wondered how a person was supposed to build up credit if no bank would loan them the money in the first place.
 
I'm pretty sure I have decent credit, because my dad was able to get me a 1600 loan with him cosigning. I was a couple of days late on a few payments, mainly because I was lazy, though.
 
yup the system is ass backwards for the young. It's all based on your ability to handle debt as displayed by what I would call carrying too much debt. They have to get small credit cards first. I just went through this with my oldest son who is right in that not so sweet spot.
 
People bring up a good point when an employer says I want a couple years of experience for what looks like an entry level job and you're thinking to yourself WTF?

When I was in LA the last couple of years I was in charge of hiring college interns (who we actually paid $14/hr) to work for us. In the ad we never mentioned it was paid but we would always get tons of applicants. I remember my boss saying he wanted me to hire someone with real estate experience. I'm thinking damn these are college kids how many have experience? Sure enough some did but most didn't and I'm sure they were thinking to themselves here's my chance to get some experience before I get out in the real world.

And just because Topspin likes college so much so I was supposed to place this ad with all the colleges in L.A. Yeah right, I posted it only at my school USC. An example of the 'Trojan Family' at work. So for the two years I was there we hired a USC kid each semester.
 
lol, we get thousand of resume's for entry level jobs.
I've been really lucky, less people graduated college when my dumbass got out 150 years ago. I had bartending and healthclub instructor experience, I wouldn't hire me in today's climate.

Hey dumbass, we pulled ourselves out of a recession in the eighties that was worse than it is now. And the interest rates were damn near 20% back then. you have no clue
 
Law School clerkships are paid much better. Even when I worked for the Death Penalty Defense Unit in Kansas I got 27 bucks an hour. Students that worked for major firms in Kansas City were getting 1700 a week to do research and writing. No one did free internships in Law School.

What's rate right now? Yep, it's about the same as it was in the eighties, just as I said. But the difference, as I pointed out, was that we had to pay 16% on car loans if we were lucky. You just have no way to understand without first understanding math, which it's obvious you lack the skills
 
I think we pulled out without trillions of stimulus dollars in the 80's too as we would have this time. Thank your grandkids for paying for my stock gains the next 3 years.

The pathetic recession of 1980 was nothing like the recession of 2008. The recession of 2008 only has one precdent, 1929.

Maybe we should've let America burn. That would teach conservatives the lesson their ignroant ears need to hear.
