Correct. Nations need to get off the oil tit, the petro-dollar economy, but that could take another 50 years even with all nations are doing now.

The price surge came due to ongoing supply worries and as frigid weather cascades across the United States. Global benchmark Brent crude settled at $91.11 a barrel, up $1.64, or 1.8 percent, while West Texas Intermediate crude soared $2.01, or 2.3 percent, higher to end at $90.27 a barrel, the first time the US benchmark has closed above the $90-level since Oct 6, 2014.

The market has also been influenced by developments between Russia and the West over the former's aggressive posture towards Ukraine.

The United States warned Russia was planning to use a staged attack as justification for invading the neighboring nation.

Russia's President Vladimir Putin has blamed NATO and the West for increased tensions, even as he has moved thousands of troops closer to Ukraine's border.

the same pattern existed 50,000 years ago, and somehow the earth survived. Man is not causing climate fluctuations, cannot stop them, and has never had anything to do with them. But run for the hills if you are scared.

Dude, Earth's atmosphere used to be methane. Of course the fucking planet will be fine. It's the humans living upon it who have to consider what they are doing to themselves because, TBH, Earth doesn't care.

Uh, yeah, that's not the argument rational people make. Non-leftists assume that the technology will inevitably be developed over the course of the next 50 years.

Leftists claim that the current energy system must be shutdown immediately, with no replacement technologies to readily implement. A highly scientific argument.

Yep new technology will slowly replace the old technology. Personally I think we should gradually shift to CNG for 50-75 years as we slowly phase in electric. I like flow battery technology also.

Update: the conservative talking point is no longer "the earth isn't warming." That ended years ago. Pretty much every conservative now acknowledges warming, but the NEW talking point is "man has nothing to do w/ it."

Our house is on fire, as a great leader keeps saying. It's time for all of us to wake up.
