feb 5 2018 INDIANAPOLIS -- The suspected drunken driver accused of hitting and killing Indianapolis Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson has been living in the country illegally, the Indiana State Police announced Monday.

The driver of the truck that killed Jackson and ride-sharing operator Jeffrey Monroe had been using the alias Alex Cabrera Gonsales, the police said in a release. Gonsales' given name is Manuel Orrego-Savala, and he is a citizen of Guatemala. Orrego-Savala had been deported in 2007 and 2009.

Monroe and Jackson were stopped on the side of Interstate 70 in Indianapolis when they were hit early Sunday morning.

Orrego-Savala, 37, was arrested after trying to flee the scene on foot, according to the Indiana State Police. Orrego-Savala was driving without a license and intoxicated, according to police. He is currently being held in the Marion County (Indiana) jail while the police work with U.S. federal immigration officials. Investigators are also working with the prosecutor's office to file criminal charges.

Indiana is not a sanctuary state so hopefully this monster will do a little time. In sanctuary (outlaw) states like caly or illinois, the gov would say "an accident so let's just forget it".

I'm surprised it wasn't you! .... using your two ton death machine as a law enforcement tool, Wannabe Cop. :palm:

How many non immigrants kill people while driving drunk every year?

None? One?

Dumbass thread.

No one is saying immigrants are bad. This country was founded by immigrants. You might try to understand there is a difference between immigrants and illegal immigrants, and that is the point.

Are you suggesting we do what some other countries do with illegals? Like jail, or maybe shoot them?
Jail is too expensive...

Move it one step earlier. Post armed guards at the border and stop them from getting in so Nomad doesn't have an opportunity to justify them staying.

That was always my solution. A few well-placed shots are always a deterrent.

I see it as no different than what my state allows if someone is invading my private home.

One of two things would happen. The smart ones would figure out to not try to sneak in and the dumb ones we wouldn't have to worry about any more. Either way, those having no business here are on the other side of the border.

Yeah - bring the troops home from overseas and put them on our southern border. Mexico is our enemy.

Real great idea, peckerwood. But I've got a few questions for you....

How far apart do you suggest posting these armed guards in order for them to be effective? One every 1,000 ft?

How much are you going to pay them? $35K/yr starting salary? How much for senior level? Supervisors? Annual increases?

What kind of benefits would they receive? Insurance? Paid vacations? Paid medical or maternity leave?

How much would something like that cost the taxpayers per year?

Consider the following:

Because you'd need them on duty 24/7, which equals three 8 hr shifts every day, how many armed guards would be required to cover the entire 2,000 miles? Well, one every thousand feet = roughly five per mile x 2,000 miles = 10,000 x 3 shifts per day = 30,000 armed guards that would need to be hired and trained.

Just paying 30,000 armed guards the minimum starting salary of $35K would come to slightly over $1 billion per year. That doesn't take into account the initial expense of hiring and training them, or the cost of benefits or the administrative costs of running the program which would include hiring even more federal employees or the higher salaries of supervisors and management or annual salary increases, etc, etc, etc.

Oh, and let's not forget equipment. Uniforms, guns, ammunition, vehicles, computers, office and communication equipment, leasing or building office space, etc, etc, etc.

Got a clue as to how many billions a year we're up to now, genius???

Will YOU vote to raise taxes in order to pay for it?

Also.... what would you suggest we do if Mexicans started taking up armed sniper positions on their side of the border and began picking off our guards? Should we build bulletproof guard houses every 1,000 feet? How much would that cost?

Have you ever actually sat down and thought about the practical and logistical issues associated with what you suggest prior to opening up your stupid yap?

Do you have a speck of brains between your ears?

No.

That last one is obvious.

Still justifying illegals coming here, traitor?

We won't need to raise taxes. Cut out the social welfare we waste and it's more than enough to cover the costs. The cost problem is solved. Anything else?
