Double whammy for Americans: Inflation continues to rise as jobs outlook grows weaker

The cost of living continues to increase for Americans at a time when the job market appears to be on shakier footing, creating a complicated economic problem that could be tricky to solve.

Consumer prices rose 0.4% in August, driving the annual inflation rate to 2.9%, the highest since January, according to Bureau of Labor Statistics data released Thursday. The reading marked an acceleration from the 2.7% increase seen in July, with price hikes driving up the cost of Americans’ most basic needs.

Grocery and fuel prices shot higher in August after falling the month before. Food at home prices rose 0.6% — the highest monthly jump in nearly three years — and gas prices climbed by 1.9% after falling 2.2% the month before.

The collapse of the Empire is going to be brutal economically, and very likely very violent....likely ending in the enslavement of the American people....its hard to see how this can be avoided now.

You’ve made this vague pronouncement every year for years now. Is this event going to happen in our lifetime?

I have been talking about the economic collapse for about a decade, but till recently I was saying it was going to happen 2028-2035.......its happening now.

That the people are being enslaved I did not understand till recently.......COVID taught me a lot.

The people who run America from the shadows....basically the Wall Street Mafia......are trying to save the day by turning our friends/allies/vassal states into colonies to extract wealth from now that resuming the Rape of Russia has failed.

It wont work.

I don't buy the idea of a "Wall St Mafia" running things. Financial interests are powerful yes, but there isn't some shadow group running the country.

Some expected Russia’s economy to collapse under sanctions, and that didn’t happen.

Our allies aren't colonies. Some may resent U.S. pressure at times but they also benefit from our defense and trade.

The West does face serious challenges with debt and demographics, but it still makes up a huge share of global GDP and innovation. It's not in collapse.

You fail to grasp reality.

The sense of panic is profound.

Buckle Up.....this is going to hurt.
And Trump's tariffs are just starting to work through the supply chain and his BBB hasn't really started to kick in.
Economists say it will be another month or so for all the tariff to really take effect.
Yes buckle up its going to be a ride and a lot of people may get hurt and hurt bad.

Trump is not running much of anything.......the people who run America do it from the shadows.
