My take on this is, we are 17th in the world in math skills and 25th in the world in science skills! We need to be spending more on education, not less! Besides becoming a nation of fat asses, we are also becoming a nation of dumbasses too! We use to be number one in the world in education, this is the nation that landed a man on the moon! If we don't stop this decline in education, we will be a big third world toilet, like India, with abject poverty and a caste system too! The only thing we are number one in, is the number of people behind bars! We also need to reestablish our manufacturing base too!

Annoy a conservative think for yourself!

One more example of "spend more" as a "solution" to a problem.

From 1962 - today total educational expenditures have risen almost 200% (in adjusted dollars) to meet a increased student load of less than 25%. Yet during that same period of time performance of U.S. students, when compared worldwide, has been on a steady decline. Obvious conclusion: the problem in education isn't in how much we spend. Just MAYBE the problem lies in HOW/WHERE we are spending our education funds.

Why is it the constant message from the democrats is "don't vote for republicans because they will cut off (place your favorite federal spending program here). How is dependency on government any better than the wage slavery to big business the liberal scare mongers complain about?

Maybe the teacher's unions have something to do with the decline in US education standards?
