DONALD TRUMPP'S FAVOURITE AMERICAN PRESIDENT AND THE STORY OF HIS NAUGHTY PET

As you probably know Donald Trump's No. 1 political hero is America's 7th Commander-in-Chief, President Andrew Jackson. If you don't it easy to confirm. When Trump moved into the White House in January of 2017, he ordered that a large oil portrait if Jackson be hung in the Oval Office close to the "Resolute Desk". What is so interesting about Trump's veneration of Jackson is that there are, in fact, legion extremely similar personal and political traits the two men share across 200 years In fact, they are so alike across a broad range of factors that the resemblance two two men share are uncanny - even "spooky."

I had wanted to focus on the issue of the Federal Reserve Bank, which Trump hates, and would abolish if he could; and its precursor in Andrew Jackson's time which was the Second Bank of America (which Jacksod did successfully veto - he vetoed a renewal of its charter - while he was President, and for basically the same reason's that Trump dislikes and distrusted and regularly locked horns the US FEDERAL RESERVE SYSTEM of central banks during his tenure, and would still love to see the FED scrapped.

I was intending to devote this this post to explain how the US FEDERAL RESERVE SYSTEM has been politicised (which was one of a number of Andrew Jackson's great fears regarding the notion of US central banking) and is currently inundated with left-leaning liberal/progressive Democrat economists. When you wire up these dickheads in the FED with the dickheads in Biden's cabinets who are nut-job progressive ideologues, guess what you end up with ? Yes, that's right out-of-contrl inflation and , so far, 6+ hikes in interest rates. And guess who this cock-up hurts the most? Yes, that right, Mr and Mrs ordinary, common American and their familily. The current high inflation is not going away in a hurry; independent experts are say don't be optimistic about any kind of substantial return to normal for at least 2 years> but I tell you about all of this in a separate post because while I was thinking about Donald Trump and Andrew Jackson, I remember a funny story about the later and his pet parrot, so I thought I would share it with you...

ANDREW JACKSON'S PARROT

Andrew Jackson's wife Rachel (nee Donaldson) was the love of his life. Her first marriage was to Lewis Robards, at the age of 18. It was an unhappy union, and after separating several times from her husband Rachel eventually moved into her mother's house in Tennessee.

When Rachel arrived at her mother's house, Andrew Jackson, - then a young lawyer - was boarding there. It was love at first sight, and believing that her first husband had divorced her, Rachel and Jackson were soon married in Natchez.

When Andrew Jackson and Rachel arrived in Nashville in 1791, they learned that Robards had initiated divorce proceedings, yet the divorce was not yet finalised. Robards used the Jackson's wedding in Natchez as new evidence in completing the divorce by charging Rachel with bigamy. Andrew and Rachel legally married in Nashville in 1794.

There were many issues that made the matter of Rachel's divorce complicated. To begin with, divorce was a little understood process at the time. Also, it was made complex in this case by the distances involved and the changing government authorities. So, the unusual circumstances of the Jackson's marriage were not greatly discussed in Nashville.

However, when Andrew Jackson was running his Presidential campaign of 1828, there was, as in almost every Presidential campaign in America a great deal of mudslinging. Rachel's virtue became a subject of hot gossip among the DC establishment and political spin by the supporters of Jackson's opponent, John Quincy Adams.

That year, Rachel's health began to decline. It is difficult to translate the diagnoses of the 19th-century doctors who attended her into modern terms, but it seems as though her illness centred around her heart and lungs. As Andrew Jackson began his campaign to gain the White House in earnest, the personal and political attacks mounted. Degrading insults and taunts focused on the circumstances of of Rachel's marriage to Andrew. And understandably, stress and depression compounded Rachel's existing health issues.

As the campaign continued her condition worsened. Just after Andrew Jackson won the Presidential election, Rachel's final downturn in her illness began. She died on 22nd December, 1828. Her death devastated Andrew Jackson, and for the rest of his life he always blamed his political enemies for her death and swore he would never forgive them.

Andrew Jackson had bought a parrot (an "African Grey") as a pet for Rachel named "Poll", though after she died he took care of the bird himself. There is a famous photo you can google up of Jackson sitting in a chair with "Poll" perched on his chest. Parrots are intelligent birds and can live to 75 years old. As you know, they are renowed for their ability to learn words and mimic a variety of other sounds they hear, like phones ringing and babies crying.

Andrew Jackson was a very tough man, his nickname was Ol' Hickory (Hickory wood being exceptionally strong/tough) and it was given to him by his troops after he won the crucial "Battle of New Orleans" against the British in 1815. He was a US General at the time and his victory at New Orleans is still described by militarists as a miracle pulled off against all odds. Jackson displayed extraordinary daring and bravery under fire in what was thought to be a hopeless situation for the Americans. His triumph at New Orleans made him a national hero. "Ol Hickory had a hot impulsive temper and fought dozens of duels with men who had insulted him in public, or dishonoured the virtue of his wife. Jackson was a true frontiersman and he spoke in a "gritty", direct, down-to-earth, open and honest manner. Like Donald Trump, his personal style was not "Presidential." I would describe Jackson and Trump as a pair of populist/ conservative/nationalist "rough diamonds." Also like Trump, Jackson distrusted and dislike liberal intellectuals and the political establishment elites that inhabit the DC "swamp"; not to forget the fake news either, Jackson fought an ongoing battle with the national press of his day all of which were biased against him; just as Trump was continually targeted and assaulted by the Mainstream corrupt Corporate Media and social media (e.g. Big Tech organisations like "Twitter").

Another insight into Andrew Jackson's character is provided by the large number of duels he fought -dozens at the very least, - some historians even place the total number at around 100. Jackson's most famous duel took place on the 30th of May 1808 in Kentucky against a fellow placation - owner and horse-breeder called Charles Dickinson. The trouble began when Dickinson accused Jackson of cheating on a horse race bet and then insulted Jackson's wife's virtue by calling her a "bigamist. Any criticism of Rachel was a very sore-spot for Jackson. Jackson then wrote a remark he knew Dickinson would read calling him "...a base poltroon and cowardly tale-teller." Dickinson responsded by publishing a response to Jackson wherein he called him "...a worthless scoundrel, a poltroon and a coward." Dickinson had a reputation as one of the finest marksmen in all of America, though Jackson was not phased. The two men met with their "seconds" on the "field honour" and faced off, each armed with a large caliber, smooth bored, flintlock pistol. Dickinson fired first and Jackson was hit in the chest, the musket shot had apparently hit his sternum (breast bone) was deflected off it and fractured two ribs before finally lodging close to his heart. Jackson did not cry out nor move an inch from his upright standing position. His only movement was to press the palm of one hand to his coat where the shot had entered to try and stem the bleeding from the musket shot would in his chest. Next he he steadily and carefully lowered his pistol, took aim at Dickinson and pulled the trigger; Dickinson was hit and mortally wounded in the abdomen. He died of his injuries the next morning. Although duelling with firearms in America fell out of favour after the Civil War; we still had President in the 21st century who kept the spirit of the duel alive on the field of honour. I am referring , of course, in the deadly, rapid-fire "Tweets" - to-the-heart" squeezed off by an offended President Trump at his scurrilous political and personal enemies ! :)

On one occasion, when 'Ol Hickory" was 67 years old he was standing on the steps of the Capitol making his way to a speaking engagement, when a man tried to shoot him, but the would - be assassin's revolver misfired. Jackson immediately set upon the much younger man, and commenced beating the living shit out of him with his walking stick. Even when the failed assassin was rendered unconscious from the ferocious beating Jackson has given him with his stick, he did not let up, and continued thrashing the daylights out of the gunman with his stick. 'Ol Hickory would no doubt have beaten this character to death had he not he tactfully persuaded to disist by two two members of the public who had observed the incident ! :) (TOO COOL !).

Another fact I find amusing is that after Jackson was installed in White House he has 12 large spittoons placed around the interior of the Executive mansion at strategic places ! :) (COOL).

"POLL" JACKSON'S PARROT TERRORISES POLITE SOCIETY

When Rachel died in 1828, Andrew Jackson, as mentioned, blamed the vicious gossip of the political establishment in Washington, the slanderous insults made by opponent politicians and base remarks that members of the DC press and other insults that his political enemies has levelled against his beloved wife - calling her: a "prostitute"; a "bigamist;" a "Jezebell" (i.e. "Skanky Ho" in today's US slang) a "Scarlet Woman", and so on, during his campaign for the Presidency in 1828. After her death, Jackson would spend hours walking in a state of fervour around the White House with "Poll" the parrot on his person or in cage nearby unleashing violent torrents of red hot- profanity (curse words) at those he blamed for his wife's death Remember, Jackson was a real frontiersman and a soldier, so he would have been an expert in cursing He told his best friend, John Coffee, at the time that he could scarcely write, because his heart was broken. Just as he swore he would never forgive those responsible, it seems his habit of venting his rage in profane oaths and curses carried on for years in the White House. A parallel can be draw with Donald Trump's reaction at the Democrats theft of the 2020 election. Trump was overwhelmed with white-hot anger for a long, long time at what had taken place, and I doubt he will ever fully recover from the the way he was cheated of victory in November 2020 (especially given the fate the republic has suffered to date under the lunatic left-progressive Democrats who intentionally rescinded some of his very best policy on 21st January 2021, when the clueless, blithering idiot Biden sat down to scrawl his shaky signature on a ream of Executive Orders.

Andrew Jackson, America's 7th President died on June 8th, 1845. He was said by his doctors to have died of a combination of ailments, though there is no doubt that lung illness was a major contributor due to the lead shrapnel he had in his chest after he was wounded dueling with Charles Dickinson. He is known to have suffered life-long chest pain and other chest complains after being wounded that day in his duel with Dickinson. Two days after his death on Sunday, on June 10th around 3,000 people had assembled at "The Hermitage" - Jackson home and estate - to pay their respects. This goes to show how very popular Andrew Jackson was in his day. The thousands who showed up did so at a time when travel took much more effort than it does today in America, and this again illustrates the tremendous respect Jackson garnered from the real American people - the ordinary, average, common people. Throughout his two terms as America's first populist President, Jackson has always promised the common people he would defend their best interests. And he did. They were the very same American people that Donald Trump - another great populist President - called "the forgotten people."

Andrew Jackson's funeral service was held in his home at "The Hermitage"with the Reverend William Manefee Norment presiding over the ceremony. In the front rows were Jackson's closest friends, many of them powerful politician, Senior US Military Staff and many other of the "great and the good" of the day. Their wives with them, dressed in their finest and most dignified, formal, Victorian dresses, furs and hats. Anotherr VIP at the forefront of Jackson's funeral service was his loyal companion, "Poll", the "African Grey" Parrot.

In a book he later wrote about his recollections of the life of Andrew Jackson, the Rev Norment remarks that at Jackson's funeral service, his pet parrot, "Poll", began to become "...excited by the multitude" at the beginning of the serve and then "..".let loose a perfect gust of cuss words"...."people were horrified and awed at the bird's lack of reverence."

The reverend writes in another recollection of Jackson's funeral service, that....

"Before the sermon, and while the crowd was gathering, the wicked parrot that was a household pet got excited and commenced swearing so loud and so long as to distress the people (and in particular the ladies) and had to be escorted from the premesis !"

But what exactly did "Poll" the parrot say? No one seems to F**kin' know !

Though I reckon 'Ol Hickory would have had a chuckle !
