Dixie's Irrationality-one observation

Based Chad

Was it me?
Dixie: We can't do more of our own production because we don't do production anymore.

This is absurd on two counts.

A. WE do production.

B. whatever our current level of production is, we could always do more.

Dixie seems to believe that changes can only go in one direction. That's absurd and irrational.

First of all, it is YOU who is irrational, not me. You talk like some 9th-grader, who has never even participated in Junior Achievement or Distributive Education classes. You have no concept of how things work in the real world, your ideas are simple-minded and emotive. This argument began with your absurd idea that we should suspend trade with China. Just cut our trade ties completely, and make our own stuff! Now, that's a really simple thought, but actually putting it into action, is a very complicated and difficult thing to do, and you seem to think it would be simple and easy to do.

For instance, the main products we import from China, are nickel, zinc, and lumber. These aren't really products we have the capacity to manufacture ourselves, we simply don't have the resources at our disposal. It doesn't matter how much we might WANT to do it, we CAN'T do it! But putting natural resources aside, and considering actual manufactured goods, we import mostly computer-related products, electronics, toys, clothes, footwear, and household items. These things are produced in China at a fraction of the cost we can produce them here, because of the cost of labor.

We could certainly make those things here, but would consumers pay the price that would have to be charged, in order to pay for the increased cost of labor to produce them? All of these items would increase in price by 300-1000% at least, and American consumers would simply not pay those prices unless it was something they HAD to buy. Now, that is just if things remain the same with regard to the value of our dollar. The biggest problem would be, what China is currently buying from us...our DEBT! You see, trade agreements are mutual arrangements, we buy products from China, and they buy products from us. If we stopped buying from them, they would stop buying from us, and what are they buying from us? Well, they do buy some semi-conductors, plastics, soybeans, raw cotton, tobacco... all of those industries would suffer the loss of a huge customer, which would cause massive unemployment for Americans, but the primary thing China purchases from the US, is our monetary debt. They buy our bonds, they have trillions of dollars worth already, and they continue to buy them. Should we cut trade ties with China, they would certainly cash those in, and we don't have the monetary ability to honor those! So, we would have to print more money... this would result in drastically diminishing the value of the dollar. Now we have a scenario which gets markedly worse for Americans, as all of these products which are costing us 300-1000% more on the shelf, are being paid for with dollars which have less and less value. That's IF we lived in your fantasy world, where we just magically started manufacturing all these things on our own again! I guess you think manufacturing facilities just mysteriously appear when needed, out of nowhere, built and operated by fairies who can ignore financial risks and make this all happen overnight?

Even when confronted with the realization of economic collapse and a worthless dollar, you maintain your irrationality... We can let it collapse and just revert to a "barter system!" People don't need money! Apparently, we can all live in huts, forage for berries and trade animal pelts. In your mind, this would make things BETTER for all Americans! And you think I am the "irrational" one here?

wow, 1000%! That's scary!!!!!

This is simple, you fool.

When you put vast numbers of your own citizens out of work, you're going to destroy the economy. A trade imbalance becomes a one way money suck OUT of your society, regardless of the bubbles they create on the surface so the market can cover over this intrinsic flaw.

And your concept that we can't ramp up our production just defies all logic.

Why can't we ramp up dometic prodution again? Go over that so i can laugh some more, you brainwashed baffoon.

Your idea of cutting trade relations with China, would put thousands who work in the semi-conductor, plastics, soybean, tobacco, and cotton production industries out of a job and out of business. That's a fact you want to completely ignore.

We've had a trade imbalance for decades, and our society doesn't seem to be 'suffering' because of it, in fact, our poor people live better than most rich people in other countries. The primary concern of our government seems to be what to do with all our FAT KIDS... I don't think we're hurting!

I didn't say we couldn't "ramp up production" in any post I've made, you need to read my posts again, if that's what you interpreted, because that is false. There is a market demand for what we import from China, so we could and would "ramp up production" of those products, but they would ALL cost MORE! Considerably MORE! And the supply demands could not be met immediately, it would take several years, at least. While the systems of manufacturing were being established and "ramped up" ...the value of the dollar would be declining rapidly, due to the monetizing of debt to China we would certainly be paying off. Here is another problem you completely ignore, and give absolutely NO solution for! How are we going to purchase all this new much higher-priced American production, with dollars that are essentially worthless?

You are one of the many emotive idiots in America, who simply don't think about consequences of anything. You just think there is an easy solution to whatever you perceive as a problem, but if problems were easy to solve, they wouldn't be problems!

No. that is what you said.

It wouldn't put anybody out of business. You're just being alarmist. You're the emotive one. The fed would make sure we have enough money to keep things flowing.

The problem is globalist idiots like yourself who want to destroy americans. you will fail in your globalist treachery. Try being a patriotic american for once. And get rid of your fear of the chinese bogeyman.

No, it's not what I said.

Typical Asshead response! How could it NOT put people out of business and out of jobs to lose millions of dollars in Chinese business? Just because YOU said it wouldn't? I think I have to go with what I actually know and understand about how business works, no offense!

You're just being alarmist. You're the emotive one.

I'm not being an alarmist, I am being a REALIST! You are being an emotive IDIOT!

The fed would make sure we have enough money to keep things flowing.

That is EXACTLY what I would worry about the MOST! The Fed would make sure by printing more currency, and further devaluing the dollar! It would work for a few months, until that currency started making it's way into the system, then the dollar would collapse and be worthless.

The problem is globalist idiots like yourself who want to destroy americans. you will fail in your globalist treachery. Try being a patriotic american for once. And get rid of your fear of the chinese bogeyman.

The problem is incompetent fuckwits like you, who stubbornly insist on something that is never going to happen in the real world, and would have catastrophic consequences if it ever did! Try not being an absolute MORON for once! Stop fearing normal trade relations with other countries! That's NOT the reason we don't have jobs in America! YOU are the FOOL who is chasing the wrong "monster" here!

It is what you said.

And you're all confused.

Impeding chinese imports would mean MORE business for american companies, not less. Try thinking for once.

Your irrational commitment to globalization is obviously a result of you being stupid and susceptible to internationalist fascist brainwashing.

Tariffs stimulate domestic industry. That's econ 101.

More hot air escaping from the void of your bellowing cranium, I see!

Nothing significant addressed in this post, just more of the same mindless ranting and insulting remarks.

You have ZERO understanding of how trade works, how manufacturing works, how business works, how jobs are created, how monetary systems work, how economies work, or how tariffs work.

You've offered NO explanation for how to deal with the numerous problems created by cutting trade relations with China, which would not accomplish ANY of the objectives you claim to want to achieve.

All you do, is continue to blow hot air out of your empty head, and repeat the same mindless nonsense over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over....................... forever!

:wall: WE ARE DONE HERE!

Let me explain it to you.

The current trade deficit with china is about 1 to 5.

This for every one thing we sell to them, they sell five to us.

Merely STOPPING importing things from them and MANUFACTURING FOR OUR OWN NEEDS would mean a massive increase in production and jobs here at home. This one action alone would cure our unemployment and revive our economy. And it would NOT be a wallstreet "jobless recovery" of asset inflation either. It would signify real growth, and a larger group of americans becoming wealthier.

If you don't get this, you're just a moron.
