Did Obama attack Libya for oil?

As Reuters reports, "Western companies look well positioned as billions of dollars in oil exploration and construction contracts come up for grabs as part of the reconstruction effort."

Leaving aside the massive profits from the rebuilding that Libya is now going to need, there are vast oil spoils to distribute. The Libyan oil industry produced 1.6 million barrels a day prior to the war. The country is thought to have 46 billion barrels of reserves - the largest in Africa.

what is weak about it? do you think bush attacked iraq for oil? that was a claim by many. why is it "weak" to ask if obama did the same with libya? this is your typical response to tough questions that potentially make your precious dems look bad. the thread isn't a troll at all. if this thread had been about bush and oil, you would have never called it a troll thread.

Oh, he did though. At least according to Yurt. Yurt said it was an invasion "just like Iraq," and there were "boots on the ground," exactly like Iraq. The 2 conflicts are basically interchangeable.

At least, until he said it was silly to compare the 2.....

And I might add that I cannot imagine viewing the world with an exclusive focus on comparing everything Obama does or doesn't do to things that Bush did or didn't do. It's such a weird fetish. What's it like?

it is not a troll thread. why hasn't obama attacked syria? their crimes are as bad, if not worse, than gaddafi's. yet, syria doesn't have the oil that libya has. i'm sorry such questions make you uncomfortable about your precious leaders. that fact you refuse to discuss it in a rational manner shows me you're scared and that i've struck a nerve.

i'm not completely independent, i lean right. but in no way do i apologize or hack it up like you. at least i can admit that iraq was partly about oil.

Depends. Can you openly admit that you were on this board for days after Libya started, asking where liberals were & why they weren't protesting, because it was an INVASION just like Iraq, and that there were "boots on the ground" just like Iraq?

I think it's because Russia and China told him that they weren't "cool with that".

They weren't too fussed about Libya (or drunk) when the UN resolution, authorising force, was passed.
