DeSantis beats Trump in 2024 straw poll a second time

I think Trump is done. DeSantis is not the type to be VP.

Every insider in Washington DC knows what's coming down the pike regarding Trump's coup attempt. Agreed, Trump is done as a Republican candidate for President. At best he'd remain a kingmaker for representatives who will kneel and kiss the ring.

While I doubt Trump himself will suffer from prosecution for 1/6, those involved under him will most certainly burn for it. What happens in State prosecutions like NY and GA remains to be seen.

The attendees of the Western Conservative Summit, organized by the Centennial Institute, a think tank associated with Colorado Christian University, approved of a potential DeSantis candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination at 71%, with Trump coming in at 67%

Technically not a straw poll, because they are not picking between alternatives. If they were, there would be no way to get a total above 100% (71% + 67% = 138%). Obviously, they were not asked to pick between alternatives, but instead could pick multiple candidates. They could support both DeSantis and trump.

Put another way, if the primary was held today, and both men were running for the nomination, who would the Republicans pick? The voters who would support both would have to pick one or the other to support. My bet is trump would win in the nomination in the landslide, and then would have a very tough general election.

I think it will be a Trump/Desantis ticket.

If both trump and DeSantis are from Florida, then Florida Electors would not be able to vote for both of them. Electors from a state can only vote for one candidate from their state, the other must be from another state. That makes everything far more complex, so Presidential tickets are always split between two states. One of them would have to move, which looks bad right before an election.

Then there is the problem that trump destroys the credibility of those under him. DeSantis knows this, and is young enough to easily sit out the election. There is no way DeSantis would accept the VP nomination.

And there is no way trump would accept the VP nomination. One of them would need to be the VP for it to be a ticket. Therefore, it will never be a ticket.

Trump would serve one term as president and DeSantis is elected for two terms.

If I were DeSantis, I would not believe that. If DeSantis were in the trump administration, it would probably be the end of his political career, just like with the rest of them.

The attendees of the Western Conservative Summit, organized by the Centennial Institute, a think tank associated with Colorado Christian University, approved of a potential DeSantis candidacy for the Republican presidential nomination at 71%, with Trump coming in at 67%.

The straw poll was conducted based on an "approval" system, which allowed attendees to vote for more than one candidate that they could support.

Former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, D-Hawaii, spoke at the summit for the first time delivering an impassioned speech about the Bill of Rights and decrying politicians who erode freedoms like the First and Second amendments as "domestic enemies of the people."

"Getting rid of the Second Amendment will not stop these evil acts of violence," Gabbard said.

Similarly, "getting rid of the First Amendment, banning and censoring so-called hate speech as many of our politicians are advocating now, will not get rid of hate," she said.

The temptations of those in power to abuse power is the purpose of the constitution, Gabbard said.

"Yes, our freedoms are being threatened, but that threat is not coming from some far off foreign country, but it's coming from within," Gabbard said.

I wonder how long would it take between the two tyrants to come in first place at making to a burning hell fire for an eternity on their apparent unGodly bodies and souls at doing humanity very dirty?

He's getting destroyed in the polls by a twice-impeached, once-indicted, failed one term president who is on trial for rape.

King Kong vs. Godzilla is more likely to get you a qualified presidential candidate
than DeSantis vs. Trump.

I certainly hope you realize that.

IMO,..and I could be wrong, but I dont think so,.......a grand deal is going to be cut that satisfies all involved. I think it will be a Trump/Desantis ticket. Four years of trump with RDS as VP followed by 8 years of RDS. Most logical and positive outcome.

Yeah, and I bet you also thought Trump winning the 2020 election was 'the most logical and positive outcome' as well.

How'd that turn out for you, Stoned?

DeathSantis has spent the last year trying to 'outtrump' trump.

Every time he opens his mouth, his chances of winning the Republican primary diminish.

Which is exactly what Dems. want.

He is also afraid of Trump.

A being fearful and intimidated is never a good look for someone who purports to want to be the leader of the free world.

Possibly, but I think most Republicans are more afraid of Trump's fans; the white nationalists, militant racists and white supremacist extremists.

The idea that DeSantis is looking at becoming a life-long Senator is a good and probable one. Less confrontation, more likely to win and a lot easier to accomplish.

Puddin Hands has a temper that he has no control over. He's too easily prodded into losing control, which is why he fears trump.

trump's forte is creating a reality t.v. show scenario wherever he goes.

Typically in an attempt to cover for the fact that he's the dumbest person in the room
