Deplorable Don thinks Muslim citizens shouldn't have constitutional rights

A fine upstanding poster

Trump opposes constitutional rights for U.S. citizens accused of terrorism; he has already made that quite clear.

The 6th Amendment’s right to counsel is a bedrock principle of American legal history that actually predates the Bill of Rights itself. In 1770, soon-to-be founding father John Adams agreed to defend the British soldiers accused of committing the Boston Massacre. Decades before the Constitution enshrined the right to an attorney as a cornerstone of due process, Adams believed that even the most unpopular criminal defendants deserved counsel, no matter how ghastly their alleged crimes. Adams, who secured acquittals for most of the accused, later wrote that his defense was “one of the most gallant, generous, manly and disinterested Actions of my whole Life, and one of the best Pieces of Service I ever rendered my Country.”

James Madison supported Adams’ view of the right to counsel as a fundamental component of liberty. He included it in his earliest drafts of the Bill of Rights, and it was approved without serious controversy at ratifying conventions.

Indeed, the colonies were eager to jettison the old English common law rule barring many criminals from aid of counsel. Even before the ratification of the 6th Amendment, most colonies had notably liberal rules guaranteeing defendants the right to an attorney.

Plenty of other celebrated figures from American history voluntarily defended clients who were just as despised at the time as Rahami is today. Abraham Lincoln, for instance, represented multiple accused murderers of great notoriety; his last murder case occurred just a year before he was elected president. (His client was acquitted.)

Allowing defendants—including universally maligned suspects of violent crimes—to mount a strong defense through capable counsel is a foundational aspect of American liberty. You might even say it’s a big part of what made America great in the first place.

Wait, isn't he an American citizen? And don't American citizens have constitutional rights?

Correct me if I'm wrong on this. :D

Where in the clip does say that??

Democrats support affirmative action which means they think white men should be denied "equal protection of the laws" as demanded by the 14th amendment. THINK

the constitution and the rights that it protects are no longer viable in this day and age, dependent upon ones ideology and sensibilities. why bother with it anymore, people should be judged on a daily basis, anyone not able to withstand proper public scrutiny should be executed.

Yet you're still alive and apparently free to vent your "feelings" on the internet.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi says Donald Trump may find temporarily banning Muslims from the U.S. more difficult than he imagines.

“The United States in general conducts very strict security measures for everyone who wishes to visit it, which has been in place for quite a few years,” Sisi said via a translator in a CNN interview airing Wednesday.

“[But] it’s also important to know that during election campaigns many statements are made and many things are said. However, afterwards, governing the country would be something different, and will be subject to many factors.”
Sisi noted he has “no doubt” Trump would make a strong leader, adding he would not judge the billionaire’s sincerity on halting Muslim immigration.

“I don’t want to be unfair to anyone here,” said Sisi, the first Muslim leader to meet Trump, the GOP’s presidential nominee.

“During election campaigns there is a perception based on a certain vision and a point of view. Then that vision or point of view gets corrected and develops as a result of experience, repots and advice from experts.”

each discussed counterterrorism in separate meetings with Sisi on Monday night.

The major party presidential nominees met Sisi in New York City, where the Egyptian president was attending the United Nations General Assembly.

Trump vowed to be a “loyal friend” to Egypt while discussing its economic and political ties to the U.S. with Sisi, according to a statement from his campaign.

Clinton, meanwhile, reaffirmed the need to defeat the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, her camp said, while calling for greater counter-terror efforts between Egypt and Israel.

Trump late last year proposed a temporary ban on Muslim immigration in the wake of multiple terrorist attacks involving radical Islamists.

The billionaire has since clarified he supports “extreme vetting” for immigrants and refugees hailing from countries that are hotbeds of extremism.

Hmmm, a religious test to determine if a citizen is deserving of constitutional rights. Trumpf didn't invent that idea, did he.
