The budget under Clinton was NOT balanced. Why do idiots still insist on this bullshit fucking lie? The budget came "close" to being balanced - on paper only, through slight of hand - by transferring the social security trust fund into the general fund and SPENDING it.

Last I looked, when someone borrows from their savings to make their revenues match their spending, it is not a balanced budget.

Further, the federal debt rose each and every year Clinton was in office. Second point: if your outstanding debt is higher at the end of any given fiscal year, you are not operating on a balanced budget.

To give Clinton - and the republican congress he worked with - credit, they did more to actually reduce spending in relation to revenues of any admin and congress since before WWI. But balanced? Hardly.
