Democrats outside D.C. worry party will blow its chance of enacting historic agenda

While many Democrats say that in the end, party leaders will find a way to pass their ambitious plan, some have started contemplating a nightmare scenario, in which the talks fall apart and Democrats are left explaining to voters who gave them the keys why they couldn’t get the car out of neutral.

“We’re running out of time,” said Sean Bagniewski, chair of the Polk County Democratic Party in Iowa. “The midterms are almost here.”

The Left--well Democrats--are freaking out that the majority of America doesn't want any part of their agenda and that even in Congress they can't get their own moderates onboard with the program. Of course, they can't. A Senator like Krysten Sinema knows full well she's fucked next election if she goes all in on a Leftist agenda. So, she's taking the stance of a true moderate. Manchin is another that knows he's torpedoed like the Lusitania if he backs the Left.

The 20 or so percent of America on the Left might have the public forum at the moment, but they don't have the backing of the other 80% of the public. It doesn't help that Biden's an incompetent, retarded, and senile President.

Manchin is just a Republican. I wish the Dems would cut him loose and let him find out how the GOP welcomes him.

this is going to be interesting . Pelosi usually gets them to vote her way ( does the House still do proxy voting?) - but the Progs demean all opposition,including fellow dems

That’s ‘riding the fence speech’ lol.

Even in WV there are die hard progressives and Manchin doesn’t want to lose their votes and/or fall out with the progressives in his own party. My sense is Manchin would rather not vote for the 3.5 trillion economy wrecking monstrosity put up by his radical colleagues because Manchin isn’t a radical himself.

I’ve followed him for years. His uncle A. James Manchin was practically an icon as WV Secretary of State and it’s a big reason
Joe got where he did. I won’t guarantee Pelosi won’t be able to bribe him but my sense is Joe won’t be easy to bribe because He doesn’t like the bill, himself.
