Democrats let progressives down in moral leadership since the 1990s.

Republicans are responsible for leading their flock astray, but Democrats are responsible for giving Bill Clinton a pass in the 1990s and basically have been apologizing and mitigating what he did since then. It's pathetic. The best case scenario for Bill is that he used his position to take advantage of an intern, and then with the Clinton machine bullied that person into public disgrace and near-silence. Best. Case. Scenario.

I wonder if society and so-called progressives (e.g. Hollywood) would have learned a lesson if the Democrats -- instead of being self-serving political schemers -- took the high road and severed ties with the Clintons way back when. Instead, it was shown that you can get away with anything if you have money, power and a political machine to push through it. The Democrats have been tripping over themselves ever since, whenever a sexual scandal on the other side emerges.

It was a disgrace for the Democrats to put their supporters in the position of having to defend Bill Clinton. And while Hillary wasn't responsible for the sexual indiscretions, but she was absolutely complicit in the bullying.

Credit for the post but it is a national problem. When winning and being in power trumps all (no pun intended) it leads down this road.

National problems are solved with national leadership. Where is this leadership? Democrats are a head of the game, but also late to grow a moral and ethical spine. Dems can't lead when they're tripping over themselves to apologize for the Clintons.

Trump of all people used the moral failings of the Clintons against them. TRUMP. And he did it successfully.

Dems were caught in the headlights like a dazed deer. Because, again, the Clintons and the Dems have spent 20 years mitigating the scandals of a horn-dog president.

Now we have "progressives" blaming Russia for George Takei's troubles.

I agree a lot with the OP. Democrats are fucking wimps since Reagan fucked up the country. Dem pols are weiners, whiners, wusses, wimps. It's totally sickening, and it is exactly why we have an unstable egomaniac idiot in the WH. I quit donating to any (D) candidates after they kicked Bernie out of consideration.

By national I meant Republicans have the same problems and ultimately it's up to us the voters to hold them accountable.

Unfortunately short term victory trumps longer term principles and values and we've clearly gone too far down that path
