Here is coverage of the speech last night followed by analysis

I would like to draw your attention to the timestamp of 4:19:10

The democrats could have picked any setting they wanted for their rebuttal. They could have surrounded themselves with whoever they chose.

What do we see here? And why is it relevant?

White people. Old white people. White men.

The guy giving the speech might as well be the wholesome mr. rogers :D

No blue haired feminazis wearing cat eye glasses!

No fat dykes with armpit hair wearing vagina hats!

No blacklivesmatter people :O

Hell, I hardly see any women at all :)

Just old folksy white men in a diner.

I hope everyone learned something from this election. If you play identity politics and force everyone into a box, white people will go into their corner as well, and give you someone like trump.

So yes democrats, time to get whitey back. You've ignored them for too long.

YOU WILL listen to the white working class. They WILL NOT be ignored.

YOU WILL listen to white people. I know you hate us, we have so many privilege points.

But you can't afford to ignore us, as is evident by this rebuttal.

By the way, moonlight was overrated.

Obama’s Supreme Court nominee Merrick Garland, a respected pragmatic jurist, also failed to hit the sweet spot with the Democratic base. Obama hoped that Republican obstruction of his nomination would hand Democrats a tailor-made issue for the presidential election. Instead, the opposite happened. The liberal base hardly cared about the fate of a boring white guy, even though the stakes were so high. Democrats stopped using Garland as a campaign issue after realizing his nomination wasn’t resonating with their voters. Republicans, by contrast, were so energized by the prospect of saving a conservative judicial majority that many held their nose and voted for Donald Trump despite their misgivings.

This might be a trivial issue if it wasn’t so consequential for the Democratic Party’s future. Just as Republicans badly need diversity in the upper ranks of their party to broaden their appeal, Democrats must improve on their appeal with white men. Only 22 percent of white men view the Democratic party favorably, according to a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll, with a whopping 57 percent viewing it unfavorably. Not coincidentally, just 22 percent of Hillary Clinton’s voters in 2016 were white men, according to analysis from my Cook Political Report colleague David Wasserman.

One of the most alarming trends in politics is the rise of racial polarization. Under Trump, Republicans are now just as eager to mobilize white men as a core constituency to counter the Democrats’ increased reliance on minorities.

If you try to racially polarize and keep hating on white men, don't be surprised when it bites you in the ass.

The democrat party and JPP libs bought into the narrative that "demographics are destiny". They think they have imported enough low wage, uneducated riff raft from other countries to assure them electoral victories forever.

They failed to realize that whitey still outnumbers all

What never gets talked about is that many who voted for Trump saw him as the last chance to try to save our great country from ruin due to left policies.

The left went into 2016 with insurmountable arrogance. They never for one moment internalized the notion that Trump could win. That is why they misinterpreted the polls.

They have learned nothing from their electoral defeat. They think these ginned up protests are a prelude to electoral success. They have already convinced themselves of monumental electoral wins in 2018.

They still don't know how to behave in a Trump world. One minute he is Hitler. The next minute he is one of them abandoning his promises.

My expectations for Trump have not changed since I decided to vote for him. It is all about the Supreme Court. If he can out two or three more jurists like Scalia on the court we will have bought thirty more years of protection from left wingers regardless of who wins elections.

In huh...looks to me your both playing the identity politics game.

Neither party seems to be able to stand success. Under Bush the GOP proved so incompetent at governing that and were so reactionary they lost control of all branches of the Fed. It took the Dems all of two years to alienate middle America y going a bridge to far and its bicoastal elitism.

So now we have a populist who is going to be measured by how many asses are put in good jobs with a GOP congress that hasn't learned a damned thing from the 2000's and are going to double down on 19th century politics.

So don't get too snarky as the results of the last election, among other things, show Republicans they are not as popular as they think they are.

Having said that the recent selection of the DNC chair also show Democrats haven't learned a damned thing either.

What happens if the GOP wins all ten Senate races that are in states which Douchebag Donald carried? :cof1:

How did anyone force you into a box? You chose identity politics and white nationalism.

Then Dems will be even further in the weeds but what happens if the GOP manage to prove, again, that they suck at governing?

Time will tell but I do know one thing as long as Dems fail to reach out to middle America they'll stay in the weeds.

I recall Hilary campaign rallies..she would call out to sisters, and minorites..never to white guys -not even pro forma
-all I saw were white women in the rallies -no guys..

I didn't vote for Trump or against Hillary because of it,but it was noticible

It was pretty clear who the DNC was targeting with that response. You said you didn't watch so it's why you don't get it

I despise and disrespect anyone who voted for the Orange cheeto. I don't want any party I am affiliated with to attempt to garner that vote. I prefer a party without racists, creationists, and dumbass climate denial, states rights goofballs, gun nut creeps, gay bashing jerks, wall building jingoists, and generally people gullible enough to vote for the biggest intentional asshole bankrupt fraudster ever to run, much less win. You smarmy classless inbreds may have flipped the script for one cycle, but you'll come back to big daddy after the epic fail, and we have the demographics and heart of the majority of people anyway. Enjoy your two years of power. Please waste as much of that as possible. Now go back home and cower, stroke your guns and bibles bitterly or whatnot.

....and those of us who did vote for him could care less what a clueless, low IQ, lying liberal dunce like you thinks.

We bathe in your tears dumbfuck.

There you go again; parroting the asinine bullshit you've been spoon fed by the DNC.

One thing we know for certain; when lying liberals erupt, it won't be from thinking for themselves.

You know how they say someone of the most ardent gay people are actually gay them self, well this dude is either poor white trash, a racist or a sexist or all the above.

And FYI Watermark already trolls in this space so just letting you know because you are new here

There is room for two. Should I be surprised that some of the most ardent gay people are gay? By the way, someone who is not a homophobe is not insulted by being called gay, but the fact that you think it is the worst thing in the world to be called one, well? That makes you a homophobe.

Democrats have always made appeals to white people and Kentucky is a very white state. So what?

I appreciate your attempt to play naive here but the party that calls the GOP the party of old white men and missed no opportunity to rip for having too many white people in meetings or pictures just randomly selected a group of old white men in the backdrop last night?

No dude, the Democrats know what demographic cost them the election and that's who they appealed to last night. They also know older white people are more likely to be watching it as well.

So what part of the country do you claim as home and what is your education level that allows you to preside your greatness over everyone else?

There were several women. Yeah, they appealed to old white people. Again, Democrats have always made appeals to white people and old ones too. So? What color is the grandma that always gets pushed over the cliff by the Republican?
