Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein: ‘ISIL Is Not Contained. ISIL Is Expanding’

Democratic Sen. Dianne Feinstein disagreed with President Barack Obama’s comments last week that ISIS has been “contained.”

Appearing on MSNBC’s “Andrea Mitchell Reports” on Monday, Feinstein called for France to invoke Chapter Five of the NATO charter, saying, “we certainly need more than 50 special ops” on the ground in Syria to defeat ISIS.

Feinstein said, “I have never been more concerned. I read the intelligence faithfully. ISIL is not contained. ISIL is expanding. They just put out a video saying it is their intent to attack this country. And I think we have to be prepared. I think hopefully France will go for a Chapter 5 which will bring NATO into it. Hopefully we will work with our allies to put together the kind of coalitions and attack plans in more than one place at a given time.”

“There’s only one way we are going to diminish them and that is by taking them out, because they are growing,” insisted Feinstein. “They are in more than a dozen countries now. They are sophisticated. They have apps to communicate on that cannot be pierced even with a court order. So they have a kind of secret way of being able to conduct operations and operational planning. So we should take this very, very seriously.”

Regarding how many ground troops it would take to defeat ISIS, Feinstein said, “I’m not a military expert. I can’t tell you how many troops on the ground we need. But we certainly need more than 50 special ops and we need the ability to really make a difference on the ground.”

“We need to be able to work with Russia and Iran, if they will work with us, in the Syria area,” said Feinstein. “We need to be able to get a political solution to Assad so that all of everyone’s attention can be directed to ISIL.”

Referencing the attacks ISIS has conducting, taking down the Russian passenger plane, the Beirut bombing, and the Paris terrorist attacks, Feinstein said ISIS is “on the march. And it is important to recognize this and prepare to deal with it with action. And candidly, I don’t think bombing runs alone, we have done about 8,000 now, can really make a difference.”

“So we’re going to have to look at some new teams — new themes and I think we will have to listen very carefully to our military people and ask for the kind of precise military strategy and tactics that might be able to really contain ISIL and defeat it.”

She at least as more balls than Obama...

Relax, Stormy, the NRA and its' conservative puppets in Congress have made certain than the folks on the Terrorist Watchlist have access to guns.

Do ordinary citizens have access to guns?

Thanks to the NRA, almost everybody does.

ISIS LOVES THE NRA

More than 2,000 terror suspects legally bought weapons in the United States between 2004 and 2014 through a loophole that still remains wide open, according to a shocking federal report.

The Government Accountability Office found that 91% of all suspected terrorists who tried to buy guns in America walked away with the weapon they wanted over the 11-year stretch.

In 2013-14, the number of successful buyers rose to 94% — with 455 suspects buying weapons and just 30 denied. Not a single gun buyer was turned away because they posed a threat to the American populace as a potential terrorist.

The buyers all appeared on the FBI’s Terrorist Watchlist, which currently does not disqualify anyone from purchasing weapons.

Rep. Peter King (R-L.I.) and Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) introduced legislation earlier this year to prevent anyone on the watch list from buying arms.

But the “Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorists Act of 2015” has yet to pass.

Among those opposing the apparent no-brainer proposal: The National Rifle Association.

King sounded pessimistic about the bill's chances. “I think that right now it'd be tough to get through. I strongly support it. But no, it's not going to move right now.” King said there's "just too much opposition" from pro-gun GOP House members.

“Anything which they feel restricts the use or the ability to retain a gun they're opposed to. It's sort of a knee-jerk reaction,” he said. “The NRA is strongly opposed to it and the fact is we have only a handful of Republican co-sponsors.”

The NRA did not immediately reply to an email for comment on the proposed law to keep weapons away from suspected terrorists.

There are roughly 700,000 names on the FBI’s Terrorist Screening Database — commonly known as the Terrorist Watchlist. It includes the names of domestic and international suspects identified through intelligence and law enforcement investigation.

I don't know if it's gonads or if she just has a better grasp on reality. Actually, I'm pretty sure it's the latter and it would be comical if these weren't such dangerous times.

About the only thing you can say at this point is we're better off than Europe.

Reagan didn't much like it when black pathers started open carrying to protect their neighborhoods.

what did he do about it?

the right want CERTAIN people to be able to carry all kinds of guns.

its the racist way
