I would readily tell Mark Kelly, to his face, he's the sort of CO I'd never want to work for. He keeps impressing me as one of those bureaucratic hacks unwilling to take a chance at anything doing everything 'by the book' no matter how pedantic, insane, or stupid that may be. He did fail to keep his wife from getting shot and nearly killed by a Rightwing nutcase.

No, the guy was higher than a kite and a sloppy shot. Kelly wasn't even present at the shooting. I've been by that shopping center many times. It's on the Southeast corner of Ina Road and Oracle Highway in Tucson. Several people in the crowd Giffords was talking to were the ones that stopped Loughner, took his pistol away, and held him for police.

Loughner fired 31 rounds, hitting Giffords one time with the initial shot. Five other people at the scene were killed by Loughner's random firing into the crowd.

That's just semantics. In the Navy and Air Force, virtually everyone "works" a job of some sort. Actual combat soldiers in the Army and Marine Corps make up about 10% of the total force. Everybody else does some specialized job supporting them from administrators, to mechanics, to cooks.

I know the type from serving in the Navy, Kelly's service, for 27 years. I never saw an officer issue an "illegal order." I doubt even today, an officer, any officer, would issue one. This is just another stupid canard of the Left trying to get Trump. It's absurd. It's more absurd that Kelly is going along with it. But I can understand it too. As the ultimate corporate insider, so-to-speak, Kelly does what the party demands he do.

I witnessed three what I thought to be illegal orders, two by JAG orders. One I refused and got away with.
 
They teach you to follow orders, yet if the orders are illegal, you should not follow them. That puts you in a real predicament. I do not know how easy it would be to refuse.
