Rep. Bob Etheridge (D-N.C.) appeared unreceptive to the question of a reporter, when he grabbed the self-identified student after he asked the congressman if he "fully supported the Obama agenda."

In the video, the North Carolina lawmaker is seen approaching the camera, while the reporter asks, "Hi, Congressman. How are you? Do you fully support the Obama agenda?"

Etheridge appears visibly irritated and immediately asks, "who are you?" before knocking the interviewer's camera to the ground.

In the next shot, Etheridge grabs the reporter's wrist and continually asks him to identify himself. The cameraman replies, "we're just here for a project...we're just students."

DNC spokesman Brad Woodhouse addressed the video in a statement:

"Motives matter, and I think you can see who was behind this," Woodhouse said. "This was a Republican party tracking operation. If it wasn't a party tracker or intern, why is the face blurred and why is the source hidden? You know if it had been a right wing blog, they'd identify themselves and they'd be booking this person on TV all day. Republicans know if they admit their involvement in this game of gotcha it will undermine their credibility. One minute this guy is interviewing a member of Congress on camera and the next a video is released with his face blurred out? If that doesn't tell you this is a Republican Party hatchet job nothing will."

I'm sure JPP liberals were aghast when this hit the news...weren't they?

Didn't Signalman K and AP go ballistic with poutrage when this Democrat Congressman assaulted a young man in the street? :dunno:

Oh, yeah. I remember this. GOP operatives hounded Democratic members of Congress and filmed it and got one of them to take the bait. Then they lied about it, pretending the guys in the video were just "student reporters."

I also remember that it helped lead to Elridge's defeat in the next election.

So the Democrat didn't slap, grab and hold a young man in the street?

Oh, wait, he did - it's on tape - but it's OK, because aeprga says the victim of the assault was a GOP operative, so that's all good.

BTW, who's "Elridge"?

My guess is that Democrats would call that an unprofessional and idiot move by someone that shouldn't be in Congress.

I'm sure you are posting this in response to the Republican Congressman that told someone he was going to throw him off the balcony. (which ironically the Right is justifying)

Wake up idiot kids.

I thought this yahoo was an idiot when I first saw that clip shortly after the incident occurred, and I still think that way...

just as I am sure that measured, wise republicans on here would similarly castigate the republican congressman who threatened to throw a reporter "off this fucking balcony".

right guys?

Making threats is so much worse than assaulting a young man in the street, isn't it?

Did Democrats demand investigations and wail that Etheridge should resign?
