Democracy is at stake in the midterms. The media must convey that.

I’ve written before about my own ideas: to make the threats to democracy a central part of media coverage, not a sidelight; to stop treating campaigns like so many horse races; to have coverage reflect a sharp focus on government rather than politics; to label this coverage in a defining and memorable way.

The midterm elections may be the most consequential ones in American history. They are less than six months away, and many Americans don’t understand how high the stakes really are. There’s not much time to fix that.

If Republicans take one or both houses of Congress, and if Trump or another Trump-inspired Republican runs for president in 2024, Koppelman added, “there may be no stopping the tide.” These true believers will see to it that the Republican nominee is declared the winner — even if it takes a coup to do so. (Let’s face it: We saw that very thing attempted on Jan. 6 last year when a violent mob stormed the Capitol and demanded the election results be reversed.)

WHO CAME UP WITH MANDATES, SHUT DOWNS, PUSHING LIES LIKE "RUSSIA COLLUSUION" and "RUSSIAN DISINFORMATION" ,PLUS THE SHINY, NEW "MINISTRY of TRUTH"?

OH YEAH..YOU AND YOURS AND THE FAKE NEWS YOU ARE BEGGING TO HELP YOU KEEP LYING TO AMERICANS.

curious if 1/6 is of any concerns in regards to polling?
i doubt anyone cares, but i have seen no numbers

Nah, heard that chant many times before, usually coming from the right, live long enough, seen it all, the pendulum swings both ways. Then again, myself, family, and relatives all have dual citizenship, so I have the option of booking

January 6th isn't going to be a big player come this election day, and what impact it plays could be determined on what the Committee delivers in it's hearings and final report. Combined with the Court's ruling on abortion and guns due this June combined the base will be motivated, but the Democrats are facing historical, demographic, and economic hurdles too difficult to overcome, at least with the House election

However, come 2024, if Trump does succeed in becoming the GOP nominee, and there is not reason now why he wouldn't, January 6th will become an issue

That is exactly what will happen,....and no....there is no stopping the tide. Were TAKING it all.

Can anybody remember a national election that hasnt been billed as the most important election in their lifetime with everything at stake? I cannot.

It will be. You're just a lazy cynic.

Realist, Americans generally vote with their pocketbook, and that will be the dominate concern come next November. It won't be that they hold the Democrats responsible for current conditions, but rather that if things aren't as good as they were a year ago they feel fine voting for a change.

And as I noted, the Democrats have too many historical and demographic trends going against them, their greatest hope is to hold on to the Senate. Come 2024 it will be a whole different ballgame

You may not have heard living in the bubble you do but nobody trusts the media anymore. They are considered FAKE news who push propaganda. In fact,...most people now believe the exact opposite of whatever narrative the media is pushing at the time. They CANT SAVE YOU EITHER. You're asses are OURS. ;)

All the media needs to do is end Bidenflation, secure the border, abolish the Ministry of Truth, make America energy independent... and, it might just work.

If "BidenPresident's" worse fears become real, and I can see the possibilities, or if the U.S. turns into another Hungry, why not, I can always return when the Pendulum shifts if I want
Hungry is doing what Hungarians want - not letting in tons of migrants and preserving it's culture
Orbán just won a 4th term
