This is where you err a bit more. Let me explain.
Yes, the DNC ("Team Democrat") cares about "beating the other side of the aisle", but the RNC ("Team Republican") doesn't give two shits about that (and actually prefers to lose). Let me explain even further.
At the present moment (and for quite a long while now), the DNC and the RNC are a "Uniparty" (as some call it). In other words, the RNC is effectively a wholly owned subsidiary of the DNC. They both ultimately "play for the same team", and it isn't for "We The People".
DNC / Team Democrat favors power above all else; power is their end-game. They NEEEEEEED power in order to lord it over you during every moment that you choose to do something that they don't approve of (such as choosing not to wear a pointless mask or get a harmful COVID jab). They value money as well, but they will ultimately use that money to obtain power. They prefer being in the majority (because it is easier for them to implement their controlling ideology from that position).
RNC / Team Republican favors money above all else; money is their end-game. They NEEEEEEED money because, well, who doesn't want a shit ton of money, right? Politics can be quite lucrative! Plus, belonging to "the elite" has its perks. They value power as well, but they will ultimately use that power to obtain money. They prefer being in the minority (because it is easier for them to fundraise "against the enemy" from that position).
(Donald Trump) / Team MAGA favors nationalism and a thriving "working class", meaning the return of a powerful manufacturing base (protected by tariffs) and the rejection of any/all "green energy" mandates, instead preferring to make use of the more efficient and dependable hydrocarbon based fuels. They also want secure borders and less involvement/meddling in other countries' affairs. They don't care about money OR power; they simply care about common sense and economic/energy policies that benefit the "working class" instead of pillaging from them.
Most people view "We vs Them" as Democrats vs Republicans (or whatever label one wishes to tack onto the people who vote for each of them). However, the "We vs Them" is actually "We The People" (currently represented by the MAGA movement) vs the elitists within the DNC (and their wholly owned subsidiary, the RNC).
