Dating A Banker?

OMG, you poor thing!

Look at these idiots, and they were profiled in the NY Times, so it's actually real. Morons.

"Are you or someone you love dating a banker? If so, we are here to support you through these difficult times. Dating A Banker Anonymous (DABA) is a safe place where women can come together - free from the scrutiny of feminists- and share their tearful tales of how the mortgage meltdown has affected their relationships. DABA Girls was started by two best friends whose relationships tanked with the economy. Not knowing what else to do, we did what frustrated but articulate girls have done since the beginning of time - we started a blog. So if your monthly Bergdorf's allowance has been halved and bottle service has all but disappeared from your life, lighten your heart with laughter and email your stories to dabagirls@gmail.com. Warning all stories sent will be infused with our own special brand of DABA Girl humor."

That's pretty funny; it doesn't seem real. I would love to crash one of their discussions.

If they want some perspective, they should talk to the "dating door-to-door used software salesmen" group...

LOL. I hope that you're just joking and not being hit hard. But I don't know anyone who isn't affected to differing degrees.

These idiots are just totally clueless. Complaining about your Bergdorf allowance when people are worrying over how to feed their children, or living in tents. My favorite was the idiot whose husband is a banker and she says that she didn't sign up for this. I would have liked to hear those wedding vows.

Thats funny.

One point however is that when your in an area that's being hit hard by the recession, the threat of jobless daily does have the ability to impact your personal life if you let it.

Yeah especially if you are in a relationship with someone whining about their diminshed clothing allowance while you are sweating out every round of layoffs. Or maybe, the one who has to tell the people who are being laid off that they don't have a job.

Please.. i try to keep work life and personal life completely separate. In fact if you asked my wife what I did she probably would get my job title and my job responsibilities wrong.

Case in point on when your in a shitty situation. Last week my boss was on vacation all week and Thursday he came in for an emergency meeting with the head of the division for 4 hours. When the meeting ended he hightailed it out of here to go back on vacation but not before leaving a message at my desk that he needed to see me first thing Friday morning (mind you we are in the middle of layoffs and it was the end of a pay period when they do the layoffs). So all night I had to worry about it without laying my worry on family. Turns out reason he needed to see me is because I have the honors of ranking a bunch of my work friends to see whos going to be laid off. I think that is even worse for me.

Oh I'm sorry Chap. That is really a bad position to be in.

it happened to me once before at Fidelity in the last recession. Comes with the territory of being an analyst I guess. SUCKS.

That is pretty awful, on both counts.

You're much better than me. If something bad is going down at work, I usually blab all about it.

Back to my point however. I have been planning in case of layoff and should be ok financially if it happens however my wife who's been working part time as a nurse would have to pick up another shift at the hospital. I mentioned this to her a few weeks back and she looked at me like I was totally out of my mind. The best part is that look came from behind a computer screen looking at coach purses on one tab and 5star resorts in Ireland on the other tab.

LOL ~ ok prob shouldn't have shared that.

I can only hope that faced with real adversity she would step up to the plate. Some people will surprise you like that :)
