If you want a blow by blow account of the whitewash, read this report. If you think the inquiries were thorough and absolved the scientists, you might want to read this report. Everything the sceptic charged was found to be true. They witheld data and methods. They didn't disclose the "trick" to the policy makers.
Expect Crypiss to ignore this and post some appeals to authority.

I knew that six independent investigations into “Climate Gate” by the British Parliament, by the US Environmental Protection Agency, by the Muir-Russell Commission, Penn State University, and others was a complete crock.
This piece of investigative blog work by noted climate
deniers realists, is clearly the definitive investigation of the Climate Gate scandal.
From now on I will endeavor to be the honest broker, and bridge the gap between the climate alarmists, and the climate realists.
The alarmists need to admit that “Climate Gate (!)”, Amazon Gate, and other scandals reveal that the global climate science community is not only systematically wrong….
but is engaged in lies and deception on a global and epic scale. Why? Obviously, to deceive the public and hog grant money. The alarmists need to admit that the world’s leading science organizations and the IPCC have been engaged in oppression of leading, rightwing, non-peer reviewed blog climate
amateurs scientists.
On the other hand, the climate realists need to recognize that not all climate scientists are eco-nazis, bent on hogging grant money and scaring the bejesus out of average citizens. Many climate scientists may be indeed honest, but live in unrelenting fear of the inquisition by the International Panel on Climate Change and the US National Academy of Sciences, should they speak of their doubts about human-caused climate change.

In that spirit, I propose some modest changes to the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which should be implemented prior to the 2013 climate assessment.
(1) No scientists who accept grant money can be allowed to participate in IPCC. Hogging grant money only corrupts scientific inquiry. Climate science should be done by the independently wealthy. Only when scientists can fund their research out of their own pockets, can the results be trusted.
(2) Some of the best science is done on rightwing blogs. The use of Peer-reviewed science should be extremely limited. Non-peer reviewed blog science by people who don’t have climatology degrees (and therefore, aren’t subject to professional sanction or scorn by the corrupt climate science community) should be widely accepted by IPCC for climate assessment.
(3) No Muslim, Mexican, or African scientists are allowed to participate in IPCC. Would you trust an African doctor to perform surgery on you? I think not!
(4) Temperature data, CO2 data, and tree ring data can no longer be used. As Climate Gate clearly demonstrated, such data sets are inherently unreliable and prone to falsifying by climate alarmists.
(5) Likewise, anecdotal evidence, and folklore from rightwing blog contributors should not be dismissed, until scientifically disproven beyond all shadow of doubt.
(6) For each Alarmist reference from a peer reviewed scientific journal like
Nature or
Science, a corresponding non-peer reviewed blog article from a Realist should be referenced to assure complete balance.

They were thoroughly discredited just last year in the international "Climategate" scandal. The United Nation’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and their pals from the East Anglia Climatic Research Unit in Great Britain were caught red-handed, through their own email communications, to have
intentionally falsified the scientific data on which they claim that human activity is a leading cause of global warming. Further, they were found to have
hidden their own research results that showed world temperature not rising, but actually falling over the past several years.
The truth they
tried to conceal from the world is that global temperature fluctuations are a normal earth cycle. We may or may not even be in a warming cycle. Even if we are, scientific evidence does not conclude that activity by man plays any significant role.
The reason for the lies is because the goal of these people is not to protect the environment, it is to implement a socialistic one-world government that has dictatorial control over every human activity, led by tyrannical liberal elites.
Global warming is simply a chicken-little scheme to use mass media and government propaganda to convince the world that
destruction of individual liberties and national sovereignty is necessary to save mankind, and that the unwashed masses would destroy themselves without the enlightened global dictatorship of these frauds.
We do face a global threat. But it is not global warming, it is global tyranny from this crowd of liars – the Warmers.
