Long before Rush, Hannity, and Levin, there was this giant that held liberal NYC in his grasp.
Over the years he guest-hosted all of those nationally broadcast syndicated shows. He was the original. The best.
RIP.

Bob Grant, the conservative talk pioneer whose controversial high-octane style made him a New York radio icon, died New Year's Eve in Hillsborough, N.J. He was 84.
He had been ill for some time and had stopped doing his WABC radio show, though he never officially retired.
Grant started at WMCA in 1970 and made his strongest mark after moving to the afternoon show on WABC in 1984.
He made national headlines in 1996 when WABC fired him for comments about the late Commerce Secretary Ron Brown. He then worked at WOR until 2007, when he returned to finish out his career at WABC.
Many younger hosts over the years have paid tribute to Grant. Sean Hannity, who replaced him on WABC in 1995, said at the time, "He's the reason I'm on the radio."
