Let's add in federal, state, local, and other taxes and fees as well. People will revolt if you do that, particularly in blue states...

I think it would shock the people in red states more then the blue. and if the red states have to raise taxes to cover damage form hurricanes and other things seeing FEMA isn't going to have it to give them in the near future they will be really pissed.
List them all and see who starts to cry the most.

Most red states have low population density--most--and don't suffer widespread damage from weather. I'd also say that rural Americans are far less dependent on the government to rescue them from some "disaster" than city dwelling blue state people are.
