Colleges want open doors. MSU shooting shows the risk.

As the nation absorbs another tragic shooting on a university campus, one of the defining features of public higher education has again shown its vulnerability. Unlike K-12 schools, which typically have limited access points, buildings on college campuses are designed as an open space for inquiry and congregation. That openness, though, can make colleges a softer target.

"...open space for inquiry..." Until you disagree.

Then stop terrorizing people

How much are we willing to give up to become a perfectly safe, foam-covered environment?

We can protect life to the point of making it not worth living.

TSA has pretty much done that already with air travel.

Wow. Maybe there are things we can all agree upon. I couldn’t have said this better myself. Yes we want to mitigate risk but at a certain point we would never leave the house.

Yet, taking off your shoes is not like getting murdered because you're a college student on campus.

Well, I suppose you would have to ask people that live in Gated Communities, if they feel like life is worth living in a Gated Community.

I am assuming they do, or they wouldn't live there! BUT THAT'S JUST ME!

Living in a gated community is a reasonable choice for whomever can afford it.
At least you don't get bothered by some asshole evangelist with pamphlets.

Absolutely spot on, Mr. Niblick. Took the words right out of my mouth. I move around our campus with a key to enter every door that opens to the outside. Classrooms that I used to be able to step into and motion for the student I need in the office to come with me (minimal interruption) I have to either use a key or knock. What are we willing to give up? Where does it stop?

Maybe when we stop murdering each other?

If you're calling ME a libertarian, you're an even dumber fuck that I imagined.

Wasn't I an authoritarian, fascist, elitist just a few minutes ago?

libertarians are fascist now.

none of the ones i know can bring themselves to say shit thing one about klaus schwab, fascism, state capture, sound money or anything anymore.

I guess they were always just a bunch of toady spooks to begin with.

so for the record, are you against all building codes, like a brainwashed libertarian cuz "the market will correct itself".
