Climate Change Hoax No Win for Cons!

The thing is, even if the data was correct, or it was clear as day that man was causing or significantly contributing to global warming, none of the measures being presented - from Kyoto on - would make an iota of difference.

They're token, "feel good" measures. If we really are a significant contributor to the effect - and I don't think that has been either proven or disproven - we'd basically have to go cold turkey now to make a difference 100 years from now. And we're not going cold turkey now, or even a small % cold turkey, even if the most stringent measures were to actually pass, in every country on the planet.

I would agree with the above.

LOL.. Well. actually I didn't get what I voted for! My choice was the Progressive, but the Socialist won! I am entitled to bitch!

It's interesting that you enthusiastically voted for a progressive, though. Since you're always talking about principles & hypocrisy, can you explain how that vote is consistent with your views?

Oh I didn't say I was "enthusiastic" about it, those are your words. I suppose you could say I voted for the 'lesser of two evils'. Also, I didn't think McCain's running mate was progressive. My principle is this, when it comes to a presidential election, one of two parties is going to win, and I have to decide which is closer to my personal philosophy and principles and vote for them. That's what I did, but it doesn't change what McCain is.

Here we have it. Proof the two party system reduces our democracy to the classic "false choice" logical fallacy argument writ large.

We should have tons of parties and way more grid lock.

But we don't!

That is the problem you extremists ideologues have, it's not a problem mainstream Americans have. Most of us can accept compromise to some degree, because we realize society is not always perfect, and perfection itself, is a subjective term.

What we have with you, is an example of someone who was spoiled as a tot. Given everything you wanted, rarely disciplined or required to earn anything. Because you grew up with the world revolving around you, this seems to be what you believe should be the norm for you as an adult. So your unreasonable ranting extremism here, is the equivalent to the temper tantrums which worked so well for you as a child.

Really? Because in the past, you've made a really big deal about my saying I would vote for Obama, even though I disagree with a major policy position of his. You have called it unprincipled, and you have called me a hypocrite & hack for doing so.

I'm just wondering how you think that is consistent with you, who has expressed nothing but contempt for most progressive ideals, voting for McCain, who you describe as a progressive.

We get no real choices. that's why it's called a false choice or false dichotomy, they're presented as representing choice when they're the same.

They give different lip service to different issue to give you the illusion of choice but on the really big issues that matter they are the same.

Controlled by the CFR like hillary said..

Because I don't disagree with McCain in principle about national security and a host of related issues which are most important to me. He is only moderately progressive, and I am sure many McCainites would defensively claim he's not even moderately progressive, that is just my personal opinion. I have never made a secret of my lukewarmness for McCain, this goes wayyyy back. You, on the other hand, have been one of Obama's biggest cheerleaders... then you issue your statement of "condemnation and renouncement" for something he does contrary to your own key issue for supporting him.... but still you'll vote for him! IF McCain did something to garner my "condemnation and renouncement", I don't think I could vote for him again, particularly if it was regarding the key principles for why I supported him.

Also, it is a myth that I have contempt for progressive ideals. I do have contempt for the liberal socialist progressive movement. I am ashamed to admit it, but I helped elect Jimmy Carter, a progressive! I voted for George H.W. Bush and his son, both moderate progressives. Dubya even tried to package his progressivism as "compassionate conservatism", the melding of two great philosophies as one! We've not had a true conservative president since Ronald Reagan.

Thanks; I wasn't sure how you would spin that. It didn't disappoint.....

Seems to me, the only thing spinning is your head. You asked me to explain the difference and I did. That's not really me spinning so much as it's you being unspun. You had an already spun perception of something, and I straightened it out for you.
