Here come the forum cons, i.e., middle school dropouts, to tell you that as long as the US doesn't establish a state religion that it's perfectly fine to enforce Christianity through legislation and judicial fiat.
Sounds good in theory, but it's practically impossible in reality to put religion, government, and the body politic in separate hermetically sealed boxes.
The abolition movement was spearheaded by Christians who were certain slavery was incompatible with Christian moral imperatives. Martin Luther King was a Baptist minister who spoke in sermon-like biblical rhetoric. The Civil Rights Act, the 13th amendment, the Voting Rights Act can point back to these people for their genesis.

Minority religions / faiths do better when there is a wall between church and state. Individuals are free to practice or not practice without any coercion, official or unofficial.
