Chuck Todd: ‘I Don’t Understand How Bernie’s Considered a Frontrunner’

It's only been two state's too and mostly white too?!! Maybe if Bernie can sweep super Tuesday, then he will be considered the frontrunner?!!

If MSNBC wanted to tamp down criticism that its coverage has been skewed against Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT), anchor Chuck Todd’s comments on Wednesday aren’t going to help.

Discussing the results of Tuesday night’s New Hampshire primary on MTP Daily, Democratic strategist Cornell Belcher argued that the early presidential primaries and caucuses don’t mean what they did a decade ago, prompting Todd to contend this year’s Iowa results had “an impact on Pete Buttigieg.”

“Well, did it?” Belcher wondered aloud. “Who is the frontrunner? Is he the frontrunner? He should not get the press of the frontrunner.”

With Belcher implying that Sanders—who won the popular vote in Iowa and finished first in the New Hampshire primary—was the leader of the Democratic field, Todd immediately jumped in.

“I don’t understand how Bernie is considered a frontrunner,” Todd exclaimed while shaking his head. “This is a guy that—more people showed up to the polls, highest turnout ever—and his percentage went down, not up. His total number went down, not up.”

“The new voters actually voted for Buttigieg and [Amy] Klobuchar,” former Hillary Clinton adviser Neera Tanden added, name-checking the second- and third-place finishers.

Don't worry, the racist right will make sure bernie doesn't get the nomination with the help of moderate dems.

I actually think Bernie is not as strong as people make him out to be.

The Bernie//Warren vote is smaller than the Butt/Klob vote. Now its not a guarantee as Trump benefitted from a three way race the whole time so we will see if the others drop out in time.

They combined two candidates to come up with the hybrid that beat Bernie. Too pathetic! Chuck Toad.

A recent Gallup poll says 53% of the country would not vote for a socialist.

I wonder how far they'll go to stop Bernie.

My question is, if Bernie doesn't win the democratic nomination will his followers still bother to vote?!! I don't support Bernie, but if he is the nominee I will vote for him, the alternative is four more years of a lawless, careless, egotistical idiot, dangerous narcissistic, and ignorant racist!

I will vote for a lamppost if its the nominee but Bernie and Liz Warren are the only ones calling out corruption. No brainer to me being we are going off a cliff to fascism and oligarch rule. What are so called moderates bringing to the table? Their egos?

In your case, no brainer is very accurate as you've proven on many an occasion.

From the statistics I remember reading roughly 12% percent of Bernie voters in the Primary voted for Trump in the general. Of that 12% a significant portion held views I would describe as anti-Hillary/establishment rather than progressive, so they probably wouldn't have voted for her regardless. It would help if there was less reasons to doubt the primary is being rigged along with working with the media to reduce the truth behind his appeal. That would probably help retain Bernie fans. Nobody wants 4 more years of Trump. Whoever gets the most Votes and is the Nominee, will be getting everyone's support.
(Now, if Bloomberg buys his way into a brokered Convention, you might see people throw up their hands and ask "What's the difference?")

It will pave the way for another Trump down the road and this one might be smart.
