They keep saying it was about the Ft. Lee mayor. There is substantial evidence that it's much deeper than that. The day before he ordered the shutdown, he went ballistic on air about the 'animals' in the state legislature who were blocking his judicial appointments. He broke with a 60 year tradition of automatically granting tenure to a sitting judge after the first 7 year term.

He tried to load his SC with conservative judges who would rule in favor of his pet issues...housing and cuts to education.


The Dem legislature screwed him, and he went nuts. The majority leader represents Ft. Lee.


Some of the story that started with his refusal to grant tenure:

This had nothing to do with the lack of an endorsement. He was polling at 60% or more
