Chinese to keep Tesla plant closed for extended period

"Yes, it will shut for a minimum of 4-6 more weeks and most likely at least June 1 absent recession of the Dynamic Zero Covid policy. I also expect re-ramp to take 2-3 days for every day the factory is closed. So a closure through May won’t have Shanghai back to full production until late Q3. It’s a non critical factory (food, medicine and military) and mixing people from multiple districts is strictly forbidden because then every district would have to go on lockdown. My best case estimate for Q1 production is 190k. And that’s based on a mid May open. I fully expect the quarter to come on around 160k and be a loss.”

The reason I find this interesting is that even before it opened I was reading speculation that the Chinese plan was to let Tesla build the plant, and then they were going to force it into default and take it over and then give it to a Chinese company.

With money essentially from the Party......and hopefully we all know that the Chinese make extensive use of debt traps.

If they were smart, they'd destroy all the tech there now.

Although when China locks down, they weld doors shut, so idk.

Either way, China gets a nice building.

The Chinese have been shutting down more and more for their zero Covid policy. Their government's entire credibility is rapped up in zero Covid, but I do not think they will be able to keep it up.

I ordered a new Macbook Pro, and it looks like it will take forever to get to me. On the bright side, America has had a year of better growth than China... But I still want my new Macbook.

Just wait till you see what China is willing to ship after we start lying sanctions on them for not following Western orders.

If the sanctions are a lie, then there would be no real sanctions. Did you possibly mean laying sanctions?

trump started sanctions against China already. If we definitely move towards sanctions, then MacBooks will start being assembled somewhere else. Remember, Apple is an American company, so bifurcation of the world economy leaves Apple on our side. It would mean that I would have to pay more for my MacBook, but I have the money, it really is no big deal.

The unexpected sudden shifts causing delays are the real problem for me. I have much more limited time.

It's somewhere in there..

It would not be smart for the Chinese, or Americans to destroy all their technology and return to a stone age. I really do not need to explain to you why.

You retard! Destroy what's there so the Chinese can't copy it.

The blueprints are still around here.

Holy fuck you're stupid!

 It's no surprise you think Macbooks are great.

Macbook chips don't come from China, brah.

Macbooks are teh gay and don't have the power of PCs or even some laptops.

MacBooks are great for developing for any platform. They have a huge amount of power, and complex power at that. The only major problem with Apple tech is the Apple tax. It all costs more, but yet again, I have the money.

That shit doesn't have even 25% of the power of a decent modern PC.
