China Collapsing

so why are you a dem?

I generally vote Dem because I love this country and want to keep it out of the hands of reactionary whackjobs, insurrectionists, the terminally-stupid, and fascists -- which sums up just about the entire (R) party with very few exceptions.

Those "issues" you fret about are not issues at all; they are distractions dangled in front of you by the RW media to distract you from the real problems we face. They're doing an excellent job of it. Try not to be so complicit.

so you want it in the hands of big tech censors, big pharma murderers, population reducers, envirowacko human punishers, pedo normalizers, big banks, and the perpetual war machine?

you're actually a betrayer of america and all of humanity.
:truestory:

Excellent post.

In America's reality, the alt-right chooses to ignore the real issues of the day -- our increasingly shabby educational system, mass shootings and other gun violence, climate change, the erosion and outright removal of human rights, our craptastically-awful health care delivery system, bigotry and hate, and so on. Instead, they pretend that trans people (esp. athletes), CRT, "grooming" of school kids, sex ed in schools, the "persecution" of Xtians, and so on are far more pressing issues that must be dealt with.

There is so much that everyone could agree on, and even more that given a fair debate the majority would agree upon, but instead we are spending all our time debating whether all teachers are sexually molesting children, or some such nonsense.

Well, to put it somewhat more accurately, the REICHWING is "debating" that nonsense about grooming, CRT, encouraging kids to be trans, etc. None of that is even remotely widespread or even true, but they need *something* to be riled up about. The vast majority of us have enough (too much, sometimes) to eat, a place to live, a car and the means to fuel it up, retirement income or job income, decent clothes, etc. But Fox et al would go out of business if they just STFU and let people live contentedly and in peace with their neighbors.

China's not collapsing, that's a regional bank where the head of it took the money and tried to run but didn't make it.

People that had money in that bank are hurting, though. :(

I doubt China has a version of the FDIC.

...and how many other banks have the same kind of problem?

The FDIC cannot protect you if a run on banks occurred here. They simply don't have the funds to do it.

All banks in China have 100% of their deposits insured by the government, not the limited coverage of the FDIC. The problem is they have no formal organization to actually pay that insurance. They are paying out limited money now, with the promise that sooner or later they will pay the rest. The problem is there is no actual plan to pay the rest.

So the deposits are not insured. Yet you say they are. Which is it, dude??????!?

This interaction is an example of what is happening in modern America. I make a perfectly reasonable statement, which AssHat(he calls himself that), actively tries not to understand.
Your statement is not reasonable.
So I will now try to dumb it down so he can understand it, but there is no amount of dumbing down that will make it clear to someone who does not want to understand.
Your statement is not reasonable.
As I said, "the problem is...", which indicates there is a problem that makes the whole thing not work. It is a little worse than just no one paying the larger deposits, there is no way to force the government to pay. If there was a requirement a debt the government owed Americans, we could go to an independent judiciary(courts to dumb it down), which would force the government to pay. There is no independent judiciary in China. If that fails, we can try to elect officials that would honor the debt, but there is no free and fair elections in China. The Chinese have these massive debts owed to them, which are not being paid, and there is no way for them to even complain(no free expression). It is this building pressure, that could explode.

Will it explode? What form would that explosion take? Those are more complex questions, and, sadly, we have to dumb everything down for the alt right.
The alternative to right is left...Democrats.
Instead of discussing and debating the issues of the day, we have to just repeat the reality is simpler and simpler ways to try to get the alt right posters to accept reality.
That is correct. Democrats won't accept reality no matter how simple things are explained to them.
And that will lead to an explosion in America. Or maybe more accurately a collapse, which is like an explosion.
Already in progress, again thanks to the Democrats.
We are no longer doing the things to build and maintain our society,
You are describing Democrats. Others work and produce for a living.
because we have these alt right idiots constantly dragging us down.
Yup. Democrats are dragging us down.

The FDIC is not supposed to deal with runs on banks. They may deal with the cause of a run on the bank, but not the actual run on the bank. It is the lender or last resort, the Federal Reserve, that handles runs on banks. The FDIC makes sure the banks have the assets to borrow any money from the Federal Reserve.

The Federal Reserve literally has all the money in the world. Because they can authorize the printing of money, they can loan as much money as any bank will ever need. It is not even money creation, so would generally not be inflationary. Money is being transferred from electronic form (in the bank) to physical form(green pieces of paper). When it is at the bank, it is loaned out to people who use the money. When it is in paper form, being stored at home, it is not being used. That is deflationary.

Runs on banks are often caused by questions about the credit worthiness of the bank, which is the FDIC's problem. But as long as the FDIC keeps reasonable standards, there should never be a huge problem with that.

I guess the acronym Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation doesn't mean anything, eh?

You can't print your way out of financial failure.
The FDIC makes sure the banks have the assets to borrow any money from the Federal Reserve.
Money is a liability to the Federal Reserve, not an asset.
The Federal Reserve literally has all the money in the world.
No, it doesn't. Not even close.

You can't print your way out of financial problems.
It is not even money creation,
YES IT IS!!
so would generally not be inflationary.
YES IT IS!!
Money is being transferred from electronic form (in the bank) to physical form(green pieces of paper).
Irrelevant.
When it is at the bank, it is loaned out to people who use the money. When it is in paper form, being stored at home, it is not being used.
YES IT IS!!
That is deflationary.
Money velocity is not deflationary.

There ALREADY HAS BEEN A HUGE PROBLEM WITH THAT!! Denial of history.
