The fact is 'president Trump' is a wildcard to China. Obama is anything but. He's been around for 8 years.

You could never admit it, but Trump's business dealings with China gives him an insight into them that Obama or Bush lacked.

Obama would go Full Court Kabuki -there would be grave talk of piracy etc. Over a drone.

I'm looking to get past this crap with mostly Russia,but China too. Avoiding a protracted expensive cold war with Putin leaves us more free to deal with Chinese hegemony ( not dedicating more and more resources to Europe)
and completing that Asian Pivot that Obama wanted to do, before Russia took up all his energies.

I doubt Trump planned any succinct resolution of this "crisis" -but that was one way to resolve it. Ignore it.
Save the energies,negotiations,and hostilities for where it counts - Chinese expansionism ( dredge islands,etc.).
Trmp is going to have to confront this.

That's not how you worded your comment. And whatever "insight" trump has into China is obviously based on money only, because he certainly didn't have enough insight to stick to protocol re: the call with the Taiwanese president.
