4 fatally shot, including 2 teens, and 9 wounded[/h]
Two men and two teens were killed in shootings that wounded nine others since Tuesday morning, Chicago police said.
The two teens were killed and a third teen wounded in a drive-by shooting in the Grand Crossing neighborhood Tuesday afternoon, police said.
The shooting happened about 3:35 p.m. near 76th Street and Dorchester Avenue, where the three teens were standing when someone in a
passing gray Ford Explorer fired at them, said Officer Michelle Tannehill, a police spokeswoman. No one was in custody.
A 16-year-old boy was shot in the head and a 17-year-old girl in the chest. Both were pronounced dead at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn an hour after the shooting, according to the Cook County medical examiner's office.
The boy, identified as Donta Parker, lived in the 7800 block of South Cregier Avenue, and the girl, identified as Sakinah Reed, lived in the 9000 block of South Burley Avenue, according to the medical examiner's office.
A third boy, 16, was shot in the hand and was taken in good condition to St. Bernard Hospital and Healthcare Center. Police believe the shooting was gang related.
An orange glove remained behind in an alley where paramedics treated one of the three teens. Police tied tape to trees and fences to close off Dorchester south of an alley that parallels 76th Street, including a vacant lot next to the intersection.
The three teens were among at least 10 people shot across Chicago during a nearly 14-hour stretch starting about 6:45 a.m. Tuesday.
