Character doesn't matter

There has been a lot of talk about how the left & the media were so wrong about Trump's rhetoric against women & others, and the denigrating, bullying tone he took in general.

And much of that talk has come from the same side that inundated us with "family values" in the '90's, and the idea that a world leader should be a person of character and strong moral fiber.

That's all over now. Republicans have lost the higher ground here. If a Republican ever brings up character & morality again with regard to a leader on the Democrat side, the laughter should loud and extensive.

Character doesn't matter for POTUS.

That's going to be my meme in every primary from now on. "OMG we should all be supporting Candidate X because they have a criminal record and Candidate Y is a goody too-shoes establishment tool!"

true. like wed ever let one of your people be the candidate again :)

character matters, just not as much as you think. it's also important to be in tune with america's values. For example, it's perfectly acceptable to grab some pussy when you are a star, because women love it.

I think, rather, that an awful lot of ordinary people learned long ago to accept racism, sexist bullying, and huge, huge lies, and were taught to get along as best they could with this rain of shit, because that was 'the way it was'. It will stay so till we change society, and the educated and sensitive are living in a world of play-fighting. The election just proved that Trump was 'one of us' - a nasty fat, bullying shit. The question, really, is whether people ought not, rather, to vote for their 'betters', and lean to analyse who these might be.
