Cassidy Hutchinson is the witness

Cassidy Hutchinson revealed one of the Jan. 6 committee hearing's biggest bombshells: last week, in a taped deposition, she described how Republican lawmakers advocated for blanket pardons for participants of a Dec. 21 White House meeting.

Today Hutchinson, who had been an aide to former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, will appear as the panel's surprise live witness for an unscheduled hearing, NPR has confirmed. The committee announced Monday that it would hold a hearing Tuesday "to present recently obtained evidence and receive witness testimony," but as of Tuesday morning it had not formally announced any witnesses or provided other details
 
While discussing former Mark Meadows aide Cassidy Hutchinson's highly anticipated testimony on Tuesday, CNN legal analyst Elie Honig explained why she could be a devastating witness against former President Donald Trump.

Among other things, noted Honig, it will be very hard for former Trump officials to argue that she was merely a low-level staffer or a "Never Trump" Republican who had a grudge against the twice-impeached former president.

"She had access, we know that, she was in the White House, close to Mark Meadows," Honig explained. "She does not appear to have mixed emotions, she's not running for election. Her only self-interest is to tell the truth and get this over with. She's credible, in those clips that we saw, she's very careful to say what she did and did not hear, who at times was and was not present. And she can't be attacked as an anti-Trumper, the only job she's had is working for Republican politicians."

Taken all together, Honig said, and you have someone who will be very hard to knock down.
 
It seems there was concerns about her safety after she testified on who was asking for pardons

I don't think it a stretch, some witness is going to end up in some kind of physical trouble, just to warn others who might come forward. twump proved again and again, he learned his management style from a mob boss. He operated the White House just like he was heading up a mob.

Yes. The hearing was called today to let other conspirators they know they are guilty and will be criminally prosecuted.
