Ukraine: Russia's invasion is 'crime of aggression' under international law

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is a clear violation of the United Nations Charter and an act of aggression that is a crime under international law, said Amnesty International, as it called for all those involved in this crime to be held accountable.

Emphasising the gravity of the Ukraine crisis, Amnesty has called on UN member states to uphold and defend the UN Charter, which prohibits the use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state.


''Although the crime of aggression lay dormant during the Cold War, the Hague-based International Criminal Court (ICC) now has jurisdiction over the crime of aggression. The ICC statute defines aggression as “the planning, preparation, initiation or execution, by a person in a position effectively to exercise control over or to direct the political or military action of a State, of an act of aggression which, by its character, gravity and scale, constitutes a manifest violation of the Charter of the United Nations.”

Yes, Russia should be charged with and investigated for the crime of aggression.
No doubt about it.

Provided , that is, that both Israel and the US of A are charged and investigated first.

Their crimes are, after all, far more senior and serious.

If not- well- Russia walks free. Such is the moral degradation of world justice and the rule of law brought about by America's blanket support for Israeli fascism and its wars to protect its client fascist state.
