California may end ban on travel to 23 GOP states after law backfires

A lawmaker in California is hoping to overturn the state's ban on government funding for travel to states with laws they find discriminatory.

Since 2016, California has been steadily adding to its list of U.S. destinations barred from state-funded travel. The practice began in retaliation to North Carolina enacting a law requiring people to use the bathrooms that corresponded with their biological sex.

State Sen. Toni Atkins is seeking to overturn the prohibition, saying that the cumbersome regulations should be replaced with a marketing campaign promoting inclusion.

The San Diego State men's basketball team, for example, made the Final Four for the first time in its history, but is banned from paying for travel to Texas to compete. The NCAA is footing the bill, according to San Diego State.

"I think polarization is not working," said Atkins. "We need to adjust our strategy. We know what we need to do, but we need to be able to be there to do it."

Currently, Californians are prohibited from government-expensed travel to a total of 23 states.

The ban has caused major issues outside of politics, such as sports teams at public universities that are unable to use state funds for many travel games......

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA. OPPS California screwed up. Now they need to "rethink" the position. You think? HAHAHAHAHA! Progressives wet their panties.

Maybe they should just forfeit their spot in the final 4 rather than depending on charity..:dunno:

Banning is one of those ugly words that always seem to piss somebody off somewhere in a free society.

Now regulations, is a term I feel better with. And I am all for them. Standards is another term and entity that I believe is essential in a free society.

Just like your body, if you don't regulate the things you do with it, or the things you put into it, YOU CAN FUCK YOURSELF UP BEYOND ALL CONTROL- and become a danger, or an expense, to everyone else included!!

If we didn't have standards, we'd all be eating cans of Wolf Brand Animal Hair Chili, and drinking Piss Water to wash it down with!

I can't think of anything that should go unregulated in some way or another.

How about regulation against leftist playing guitars? Does that work for you in a free society. I'm sure someone somewhere hates guitar music.

I am happy with the fact that we have choices. There are some clubs that do not want Rock Music, or Country Music, or Church Music played there, so I go play in the many clubs available where I am appreciated to play whatever I want to play on my guitar.

That is a choice clubs, restaurants, and Concert Halls make, and they are free to make that choice.

It has never been a concern of mine. THE THING IS- IT IS NOT BANNED!

Let's just say that it is regulated based on the standards of the club- and varies from club to club!

How about let regulate how loud the music can be or what states rock and roll can be played in? We wouldn't ban rock and roll just regulate it to 2 decibels. Would that work for you?

San Francisco is attempting to end its travel ban because they found it wasn't having the desired effect and was harming the City with its additional financial burden. Statewide level is different but issues still exist.

The state is funding money for people in other states to fly to California to have abortions. By this current law they can't fly those people back. (Academic) Researchers can't fly to these states to do the necessary research for their projects. There are other examples as well of people asking for exceptions to the law. So the question becomes how many exceptions do we allow and when does it defeat the purpose of the law?
