Byrd Med Emergency

It was. The only thing available online is one of those "Breaking News" headers that say he collapsed at the luncheon and that paramedics are on the scene.

That is too bad... I cannot stand Kennedy, but hope he survives long enough to see some of what Obama accomplishes.

Let's just hope it was heat exhaustion from standing in the sun too long... oh wait, they were in Washington DC... strike that. :D

I pray all is well with him.

He seems to have suffered a seizure; convulsions were reported. He also was conscious and talking, though, as he was wheeled away on a stretcher.

Byrd also left the luncheon, as he was feeling unwell, but he apparently is not in distress and did not go to the hospital. I guess these things can be pretty overwhelming when you're 91 yrs. old.

its a conspiracy, what are the odds these two WHITE folks get "sick" on this day, it just doesn't happen...

LOL! Seriously, stress can do that, and the stress (even though it's an event that both welcomed) could be sufficient to precipitate a medical emergency. Byrd is 91 and frail. Kennedy has a malignant brain tumor, from what I understand it's inoperable. The excitement of the inauguration, the crowds, etc., etc., would be enough to bring on a seizure because that's where he's vulnerable. He suffered from seizures earlier last year; that's how the tumor was discovered.

Teddy must have gotten a hold of some cheap Irish whiskey to go into convulsions.

As Byrd saw his friend going down he immediately started yelling "white niggers", I see white niggers everywhere. He was promptly subdued and taken away.

I was mistaken. According to the CNN report just now, Kennedy did have surgery, in May, to remove the tumor, and underwent chemo and radiation therapy subsequently. Because a seizure led to the discovery of the tumor he was on anti-seizure medication as a prophylactic measure. He will have a new brain scan in the hospital to determine if any of the tumor has regenerated. Chances are, also, that the tumor and subsequent removal created what's called a "focal point" that can, when activated, lead to further seizures.

The article also said that he left the Hall in a wheelchair, not a stretcher, as previously reported.

LOL

Its all a lie about feeling sick because of his friend Teddy The Drunk. It was the first black elected as president that got Byrd feeling all woozy.
