Bruce beach was the dream of the Bruce family

They


bought up beach front on an amazing beachfront in California

They then proceeded to create businesses to serve the people who came to Bruce beach


They became quite wealthy for a black family of the time


Until the racist community stole the land from them


Their plan of passing down this property and wealth down to their children and grand children was stolen from them

Their home on the beachfront was stolen from them


The current community decided they didn’t want this evil action to define their beautiful city


They recently deeded the land back to the family mr Bruce had planned to leave it to


His brilliant property purchase and business idea wasn’t completely thwarted by evil racists


His family is now very wealthy


I do wish the Bruce’s were able to enjoy this land like decency and fairness would demand


But at least some people wanted to be decent


It’s never too late to do the right thing

Because like a lot of American history that included the crimes against black Americans over the decades this history was buried and not past to the next generation so America could learn the true lessons history teaches people

If we are going to make unwinding ownership a standard part of reparations, social justice, then we are making a world of hurt for ourself. This is pure insanity, the spreading of chaos, either because we dont know where that train goes or we dont care or we want that Hell for ourselves and our kids and our grandkids.

A couple of questions. Do you believe the government should just be able to take land from someone? Do you believe that if the gov't does take land from someone that they should pay fair market value? And finally if the gov't took land from someone but didn't pay fair market rate (screwed the land owners) should that family be able to remedy it?

These questions have nothing to do with a person's race or political leanings. These are questions of beliefs/principles.
 
I suspect that it will go on the real estate market PDQ for two reasons:

1. It's worth tens of millions--at least. That's the good news.
2. The property taxes in California will force it to be sold as it's unlikely the family can pay them. That's the bad news.

If we are going to unwind ownership transfers that happened about 100 years ago then we are insane, so none of your questions matter re this thread but:

I am a socialist, the health welfare and advancement of the collective is always going to be front and center in my evaluation of ideas and events. I am also Zen so the sovereignty of the individual is sacrosanct. Individuals are all connected in ways that we are often now aware of and often deny. The interface between the individual and the collective is always complicated and is often out of kilter. Lastly if the individuals are not well developed and healthy then the collective will not be either, and vis-versa.

Which is to say that I could pretty much write a book around the questions you pose...

In extreme situations yes, I do believe in say the nationalization of industries with no compensation in an emergency, though normally I would demand fair compensation.

We cant constantly be relitigating disputes, no society could ever have the bandwidth for that, so disputes must be submitted to the justice system in a timely manner. The results of that system must be respected even if they were clearly wrong at some point, because to not invites chaos, which has the power to end us. Statutes of limitations were always a good idea, I would demand that all rights to dispute values in eminent domain must expire after a few years...."Speak now, or forever hold your peace".

now you're just being silly.....I said lib'ruls not blacks....but while you bring it up, we've recently seen blacks being racist about asians.....and we all know blacks can be racists regarding whites and hispanics.....

however the racism I was referring to was lib'ruls hating on blacks.....

In this case, the family kept a detailed record of the transaction and had reasonable grounds to sue. This isn't the case with most land transfers that happened a century or more ago.

There are some other weird ones like the Canola land grant in Arizona. It is one that predates the Mexican-American War and was upheld as legal afterwards giving the family the land without being taxed as they owned it pre-US. So, the Left claiming every minority got screwed by the US government / Whites is a bunch of BS.
