Britain training armed forces of regimes on its own human rights watchlist



British soldiers are training troops for regimes on the UK’s own human rights watchlist, including authoritarian states such as Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Burma and Bahrain.

Information released by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) shows that since 2014 UK military personnel have given training to 16 countries whose record on human rights is dubious to say the least.



Andrew Smith of Campaign Against Arms Trade (CAAT) told the Independent the fact the states in question are on the list “is a sign of how oppressive they are.”

“The UK military should not be colluding with or legitimising human rights abusers,” he said.

I hate cluster bombs and they have quite rightly been banned, but these are 1970s era weapons being used by the Saudis. Maybe you could fly to Riyadh and show them the error of their ways? I suggest a demonstration in Deera square on a Friday directly after prayers, that should be greatly appreciated by the authorities.

Perhaps you could explain why the Brit government continues to ply the Sauds with armaments even though the Sauds are using banned British munitions ?

Just agree that the Tories are war-mongering sycophantic assholes and no further explanation will be necessary. Without agreeing it's inexplicable anyway, so take the short route.

Those cluster bombs were supplied to the Saudis by a Labour government back in the 70s. As for the rest, I suspect you know the answer already.

I do have to laugh when pompous polemical pricks like you call Israel fascist, especially when you look at truly fascist regimes like Saudi Arabia, Iran, UAE and Sudan.
