Terminal C at Newark International Airport near New York City was locked down on Sunday because of a security breach, CNN reported, citing the Transportation Security Administration.

The terminal was being cleared and passengers were being rescreened, CNN said.

Continental Airlines operates from Terminal C at Newark airport.

The official said this type of situation has happened before where a person quite innocently and for whatever reason walks through the security area improperly."
