I think their just looking after a vested interest. They have some highly skilled workers that you just don't hire off the street. If those folks become chronically unemployed they will take their skills elswhere and in the long run that would cost BP more than 100,000 USD. I agree it's not only a step in the right direction but it's also a practical business decision.
