Bowing to a Saudi ???

Totally cool. Just like I was totally cool with Bush kissing him on both cheeks. I was a little weirded out by the hand-holding though, but because it was emblematic of the Bush Administration's relationship with the Saudi royalty dating back decades and it's turning a blind eye toward the Saudi support for terrorist groups.

you do realize bowing is different than what bush did...why do you claim it is the same? the king did not bow back....the king held bush's hand and kissed him back...mutual....the king did not bow to obama...

care to address that very different fact or is this all about bush now...and please answer the other two questions

It's not all about Bush, it's about how two presidents greeted a foreign leader and comparing the two. I'm not sure the hierarchy of greetings but I think a bow and a kiss on both cheeks are on the same level, although the later is obviously much more intimate. Could you tell me where you got your greeting hierarchy chart? I'd like one to prevent any faux pas in my international travel.

At core it looks as though beef is that the Saudi King didn't bow back to Obama? OK. The Saudi King is a dick. Big fucking deal. What's the problem? Should Obama have called in advance to make sure a bow would be returned? Seriously.

I think you need to relax a bit. As I said earlier, it seems that you guys have your outrage meters pegged at 11 just waiting for something to offend you. It's funny but not much fun.

We realize you wouldn't have a qualms about it...you're a Dem hack...

I am not even a Democrat, how can I be a Dem hack?

The Democratic Congress has been a sham in the last nine years and I don't see any real improvement as of late.

I don't like the current President because he is a Democrat, I forgive him for that, he doesn't have too many choices and to him, he chose the less evil.
I am undeclared, I like Groucho Marx would not join a party that had me as their member, so now, what were you saying.

One should not take ones self seriously, we could all end up being wrong.

I think I prefer the bow to the kissing and the hand-holding but that's just me.

Ahahahah, shoots, scores, three pointer! Although, it too is a sign of respect. Maybe Obama, like you, preferred to bow instead of kissing.

The thing I hate is why is the Obama camp trying to cover it up? To me that is what is stupid!

The Washington Times called the alleged bow a "shocking display of fealty to a foreign potentate" and said it violated centuries of American tradition of not deferring to royalty. The Weekly Standard, meanwhile, noted that American protocol apparently rules out bowing, or at least it reportedly did on the occasion of a Clinton "near-bow" to the emperor of Japan.

Interestingly, a columnist in the Saudi-backed Arabic paper Asharq Alawsat also took the gesture as a bow and appreciated the move.

"Obama wished to demonstrate his respect and appreciation of the personality of King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz, who has made one of the most important calls in the modern era, namely the call for inter-faith and inter-cultural dialogue to defuse the hatred, conflict and wars," wrote the columnist, Muhammah Diyab.

The video shows Obama dipping toward the king as G-20 leaders greet one another at the ExCel Centre in London.

Bush held hands with a prince, not a king.

On a serious note, who really gives a shit? Why does this even matter one iota?

The Perpetual Outrage is funny, but it'd be nice if you guys decided to give a shit about something that actually mattered for once.

What's funny is the disengenuous spin of denial espoused by the White House claiming he bent low because of the kings height...HAHAHA!. Obama bowed to the mysoginous King of Saudi Arabia and did not do so for the kind and benevolent Queen of our best ally, Great Britan? Isn't the Queen even shorter then the king of SA?

They have made this more of a story with their denial of the truth, some people might even call that lying. :(
