U.S. aviators rescued in Libya as fighting rages

The aviators, who suffered minor injuries when they landed, were both out of Libya and in U.S. hands, Locklear said.

The U.S. military dispatched a pair of Osprey tilt-rotor aircraft from the amphibious assault ship USS Kearsarge, about 100 miles off the coast of Libya, to rescue the downed aviators, said Capt. Richard Ulsh, spokesman for the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit.

But the two men landed in different places when they parachuted down, and the U.S. rescue crew was able to pick up only the pilot. He was flown to the Kearsarge, which has extensive medical facilities.

Libyan rebels recovered the second crew member and treated him with "respect and dignity" until coalition forces were able to reach him, Locklear said.

for those who don't think the airstrikes are an invasion....do we now have an invasion as you guys claim that only boots on the ground constitutes an invasion. apparently sending in over 150 missiles and warbirds is not an invasion....

LOL

New definitions spring up all of the time w/ you. Fallen aviators now consitute "boots on the ground."

Don't you even have a shred of integrity? That's seriously embarassing....

i'm ASKING you nitwit...again the irony of you claiming others can't read. you can't even comprehend what a question is. if it is not boots on the ground, what is it?

It's an embarassing thing to even suggest as you did. This thread is certainly worthy of the ridicule it's about to get....

how is asking a question suggesting it is boots on the ground? the title has a question mark at the end and i ask the question in the OP, yet you, who can't read, think its a claim.

if it isn't boots on the ground, what is it? as far as i am aware, boots on the ground means a land invasion....but does it apply here when the planes invaded libya and the pilots landed on the ground...???

PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THE QUESTION MARKS ONCELER.

It's an insanely stupid question. It's worthy of massive ridicule; it should get that. It's as silly & stupid as me asking if "boots are on the ground & we can call it an invasion" if someone dropped their Nike's from the plane.

You clearly WANT to be able to classify this as an invasion - not just from your posts for days now, but from your last comment in the OP. I won't even address that cat who ate the canary tone of your response above. You're not fooling anyone.

Dumb, dumb thread.....

i'll take that as no...

you could have simply answered the question instead of pissing and moaning....this is an invasion (not the downed aviators)....it makes no sense how sending our warbirds and bombing libya with over 150 missiles is not an invasion....if libya did the same to us, you know you and others would be calling it an invasion...

Hey Oncelor, Do you think they were able to find WMD's while the "boots were on the ground"?

And here I thought this might be an actual discussion of the events in Libya. How could I have expected that?

bump

lol...onceler busted again!

As of yet, it's not an invasion. An invasion requires the use of ground forces in an attempt to take and control territory. We've deployed a squad of ground troops to retrieve a downed airmen, and then removed said squad. That's not an invasion.
