The California Beer & Beverage Distributors disclosed it donated $10,000 to defeat Prop 19 — which would regulate and tax marijuana like alcohol. The alcohol lobbyist’s funds will help spread the lie that employers must tolerate stoned employees, and the talking point that ‘California doesn’t need another legal, mind-altering substance.’ Alcohol causes an estimated $38 billion in costs in California each year from emergency room visits, arrests, etc, according to the Marin Institute. There are roughly 3,500 deaths annually from alcohol-related illness and more than 109,000 alcohol-related injuries in California. Conversely, pot caused 181 emergency room visits in 2008, according to a study by the non-partisan RAND Corporation, despite being used by more than four million Californians monthly.

My bad logic just kicked in.

As to employers tolerating "stoned employees," .... We have random drug tests where I work. One strike and you're out. Not a bad deal.

They can only fire because because its illegal once its legal it may no longer be ground for an immediate desmissal. An employers will probally have to give them a second chance. So long as you don't show up high you'll be treated the same as not showing up drunk nothing will be done. Showing up drunk gets people fire the same will now apply to being high. You can't be fired for doing something thats legal on your free time. Showing up high will get you fired not being tested positive.

Same thing different day! They think people will spend less on marijuana and more on thier products if marijuana is kept illegal! Why don't they think in this fashion, people smoke a little juana, get cotton mouth and want a beer on a hot day! Everyone wins!

It may keep stoned people away, but the stupid ones still get to come to work! Wish there was a test to get rid of "those" people!

I do a better job stoned than most people do straight, but I must admit, I don't want my airline pilot stoned! There are just some jobs where it is not safe on any level! or at any an age under 18!

they are afraid of the competition, so are the pharma companies, racist support prohibition as well. They get to jail plenty of black and brown people.

Last poll had yes 60% no 40%. Come on Cali, once again lead this country in a cultural revelution.

From their website - The California Beer and Beverage Distributors is a nonprofit trade association representing over 100 beer distributors and brewer/vendor members.

Wow, $10,000 is a lot of money.
:palm:

What has become of liberal George Soros who in the past has put up close to 3 million dollars in support of legalization in California? Now that is a lot of money.

Nah, we just hate those guys that don't want to make marijuana legal.

What is the total lobbyist effort against marijuana from alcohol?
