As of 2021, 55 percent of households headed by non-citizens used at least one welfare program. In fact, illegal immigrants make up the highest percentage of the uninsured in America. As a result, blacks, especially those with low incomes, have to compete with people who are in the U.S. illegally for social services programs created to help Americans.
This includes hospitals and other healthcare facilities , which illegal aliens often use without bearing the costs of treatment. In 2016, The Wall Street Journal noted that 25 countries with large illegal-immigration populations provided them with more than a $1 billion a year in health services, funds that could have gone to the health needs of American citizens.
Illegal immigration costs American taxpayers more than $115 billion a year at the local, state, and federal level. Nearly 90 billion of that is paid by state and local governments.
Because most states use regressive taxes--sales and excise taxes--to fund local programs, native-born blacks who have been paying these local taxes for years are in effect subsidizing illegal immigrants who use local services, even though they haven't been in the country long enough to contribute to support these programs. School districts typically are funded by residents for years--long before or after their students attend.
Then there are the direct competitive effects immigration on black employment. Black men in particular are the biggest victims of the depressive wage effects of illegal migrant labor.
