Abortion isn't an act of cruelty, it is a legitimate medical procedure that people have been doing for thousands of years, before the morals you're now using to judge them were even conceived.

And women sure as shit don't appreciate it when you describe those legitimate medical procedures as "cruelty".

I think it's cruel to force a woman to give birth to a baby. Period. I don't think it's cruel for a woman to abort a fetus at any point in the pregnancy for any reason.

And I think that because I mind my own business and I know that I can't just usurp the moral high ground.

Let me end this discussion by rendering this down to the most basic form. I'm offering my opinion. My opinion is indeed supported by science. If it were up to me, every abortion would occur when the embryo is the size of a grain of rice.

I realize that is fantasy.

I kill mice. I don't want them in my house. I'm an animal lover who has numerous pets. But I kill mice. Cute as they are, it's necessary.

I do NOT use glue traps because that is cruel. I use conventional mouse traps, hoping that the death is rapid. Whereas it often isn't immediate, it's not the same a having a mouse starve or suffer dehydration over the course of days.

Martial artists believe that one should use good judgement before killing any living thing.

I don't expect everyone to have the ability to feel compassion. But it would be nice.

Ok a few things:

1. It is not supported by science because the science is that an abortion can happen at any time in the pregnancy for any reason. This whole "fetus can feel things" is an emotional claim, not a scientific one, because the emotion behind it is that it's bestowing human traits on something that isn't a human yet.

2. It's not realistic to have every abortion that early because pregnancies go through complications at every stage...so while the fetus may appear healthy in the first trimester, complications can arrive in the second and third that would require an abortion.

3. All of this is moot since you, me, and the cat sitting next to me have no idea who gets an abortion and when they get it, much less why they're getting it. You just have to place your trust in the pregnant people, and that seems challenging for you.

Oh, I have endless amounts of compassion...for the pregnant woman because she's an actual person.

I have no compassion for a fetus or cluster of cells because it's a fetus or a cluster of cells...I feel the same about it as I feel about amoebas; ambiguous indifference.
